When I was in Stavanger last week a guy were doing some painting work at the hotel.
The painter sat on the roof with his paint bucket and managed to miss the bucket. It landed next to my bike, wich changed color (on one side) immediately.
I did fortunately not see the incident, but when I came out after breakfast I saw a guy who was washing my bike.
It is quite common that people stops and look at my bike, drool a bit as well (so I've always carry a towel in my sadlebag) ... but I've never seen anyone like my bike so much that they wash it for me.
The painter was beside himself, and was almost in tears, poor thing. I asked him to get rid of all the paint, and that he must not use any solvent. -I had to hurry to a meeting.
When I came back to the hotel 4 hours later, he still was washing my bike. I could not see anything more paint immediately, but I asked the hotel for a confirmation of the event so I could potentially come back with the bill if something was damaged.
When I got home I washed the bike properly, dried it with compressed air and then with leather cloth.
I found some Small white spots -what is worse is that the aluminum coating that has been in contact with paint has become completely gray.
I have asked the price of full polishing the bike. I have received confirmation from the paint company that they will pay the bill.
Right side cover after the paint is likely to be scraped off
