I'm in the process of replacing my standard tank with an Interstate. I also plan on getting the rebuild kit for the petcock.

Would it be more beneficial to completely replace the petcock with the Pingel unit???     ???

That is a can of worms.  Some like the Pingel, some do not.  If you rebuild the Honda, should have no problems.  Pingels can leak too, over time.

The big issue with OEM petcocks seems to be the vacume feature, which reqiures a diaphragm.
Most of the discussion here has been about the non-vacume Pingle. There is also a vacume Pingle
which costs more and one assumes, has the reduced reliability of a diaphragm.
If you can always remeber to turn off the petcock you can achieve greater reliability.
If not you are sort of trading one weakness for another, at greater expense.

If money is not an issue I'd go with a new OEM.

Mine was starting to fail last summer, so I rebuilt it over the winter.  I would shut it off every time I stopped riding, but forgot to turn it back on one time.  I rode several miles before realizing that it was still in the off position.  It was still allowing fuel to feed the carbs in off position. When I rebuilt it, it had a small tear in the diaphragm.  Just order the cover kit and follow shop talk directions.  I would not order a complete petcock because when you rebuild it you will be replacing all of the internal parts, and the price is expensive.  Be sure to carefully watch the order of parts you remove so you can properly reassemble properly.

I already have the rebuild kit on order from Direct line along with a new screen and the fuel sender unit for the IS tank. I just figured I'd ask the question before I put the whole setup back together. Still have to get the new tank painted so it'll be awhile.  Smiley
