I'm thinkin to put a batwing on my tourer. These bikes look
better with the fairing. Went to a honda dealer and an HD dealer,
got similar answers to my questions; only memphis shades will bolt right up without mods.

fairing - approx $237 (ms)
hardware - approx $142 (ms)
12"windshield - approx $72 (ms)
15"windshield - approx $168 (hd)

anybody know of better sources/prices for these parts?

My larger question is, has anybody put a MS batwing with a Cobra
lightbar? Am I gonna have trouble with these banging together?

You should be able to get shields cheaper. If they are the same as a HD shield, check ebay. I got one for my b'wing for around $30, 12", tinted. I had to cut mine to work since it was a custom application. 8" when I was done. It was nothing but tinted Lexan the guy cut. Have you looked into a Woody?

I put one on my Standard and I was not happy with the mounts. They mounted the wing right on the headlight with the handlebar part of the wing way to low. You had to take the shield off to get the HL open and it scratched the chrome. I spent hours redoing the mounts to bring it up about 1 1/2 inches to at least make it close. This left a gap above the headlight of about an inch. That said I am 5-11 and sit on a ultimate seat. The 9 inch windshield gives me some wind and the 12 inch is at eye height cutting the wind. The edge of the plastic is not polished and the 12 inch gets annoying, my Standard Honda shield never bothered me. It does look good now though.

I used 3/4" wide foam weather strip on my headlight where the wing sat on it. This help with no air flow or rain coming in around the head light cut out. My wing is mounted right at the seam of the head light. all I do is loosen the mounts and tilt the wing up a little to access the headlight. I can have the bulb out in 3 min.
I loved my oem shield. It offered better protection. If it wasnt for the wing being stable at high speeds and a wind cutter, I would have kept the shield. I added fairing wing to it and coming home this morning I only wore my leather vest and a zip up sweat shirt, sock cap, and I was warm thx to the wings. It was 44 deg when I headed for home. I could have rode like that for 200 miles.
