More MD80 videos and suggestions for editing

I took another long video yesterday on my cheap MD80 camera that I mentioned a couple of weeks ago. The video was over 40 minutes long (4gB card) so I split it up in to two smaller videos under the 15 minute maximum of YouTube but they were still around 1.5gB in size. I reduced the quality and got them to around 50mB each so quicker to upload but the quality and size has suffered.

To split the video up I used AVI Trimmer and to resize I used Format Factory.

Colin how did you attach camera to engine guard?? Also do you know how to remove the date and time at the bottom?  Mine is the wrong date anyway.

 I did get one of the cameras and a 2 GB card from Best Buy for $12.99 just to try it out and make sure it works.  Works fine so I ordered a 4 GB card from China for $7.99 total with shipping.  Same brand as what I got from Best Buy but 4GB was about $29.99 there. 

Funny the 2 GB card I got from Best Buy is labeled "Made in China"

Donald, I used the black plastic bracket with the slots in the back and used re-usable tie wraps to attach it to the engine guard.

The date and time cannot be removed unfortunately. You set it by putting a text file in the root of the memory card and then turning the camera on. The example text file on the CD is the easiest way of doing it, just edit it in notepad with the correct date and time. The camera remembers it unless you do a hard reset or the battery goes completely flat.

I use a 4gig card that I bought locally as I couldn't be bothered to wait the 2 weeks for it to arrive from China. I am sure that a large percentage of all electrical goods are now made there
