After listening to Mac (Crazyhorse) and Kathy talk about how nice the Natchez Trace Ride was, I had to get out and get in some bike time today.  I have been meaning to visit the Rosenbaum House in Florence, Alabama for quite some time....but never seemed to find the time to do it.  Today turned out to be that day.  The Rosenbaum House was built by the world famous Architect Frank Lloyd Wright....it is the only architecture of his to be build in the state of Alabama.  Never let it be said that the great folks of Alabama aren't every bit as 'fisticated as the rest of the country.  Following are a few photos we took on the way down via the Natchez Trace.

Wow! I been living in north AL off and on since 1958 and never knew that there was a F.L. Wright here nearby.  I will be heading over there as soon as I can.  Thanks for the info and pixs.

That dude built some weird houses! He was influential, he built "Auldbrass" on the Combahee
River Road outside of Charleston SC around WWII, and was able to get copper for the roof.

Here's a picture I took when I rode by there on the Valkyrie...

Here's some pictures and a story from someone who was there...

There's a nice Wright house in Greenville, SC where I grew up... when it sold 10 or 20 years ago there
were some write ups about it in the news... the lady kept after him to build her a house, she told him
she had a nice lot "Madam, I don't build on 'lots"..."  Grin ... he designs everything in a house he
builds, even the furniture... I think the furniture is still in the Greenville house, one piece of it is
probably worth what my house is worth...

Mike, that was an interesting post.  Too bad these aren't open to the public, although it does appear that "Auldbrass" does open it's doors periodically for charity.

That quote about "not building on lots" was hilarious until I thought about what an arrogant person it would take to say something like that!!
