I currently own a one of a kind 2004 Vulcan 1500 Classic with Batwing faring, hard bags and trunk.  I will be selling my cherished Vulcan, as I have found a '97 Valkyrie that I really want to own. I rode the Valk this past weekend and was pleasantly surprised at how nimble it was for a big bike.  Although it looks top heavy, it is not and handled as good as my Vulcan doing tight slow turns.  It was quick thru the twisties and the power curve is just phenominal.  I'm truely looking forward to the day I can own and ride this magnificant bike for good.
Are there any items problems or nuances of this bike that I need to know about?  For instance, I ride year round and have heated clothing; will the alternator handle the load of heated gear and additional lights?  Any other information would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome, Bernie!

There is more information about Valks on this board than you can imagine.  I recommend taking the time to search and read.  These bikes have been discussed so much that chances are, if you have a question someone has already answered it.

To directly answer your question - yes, the alternate can handle heated clothing and additional lights.

Keep us posted (with pictures) of when you get your very own Valkyrie.

Except for a Gold Wing, BMW Tourer, My Blue Harley, My Mean Streak and My KLR.

Or any other bike I am on.

But other than that it is a pretty good bike.

Is that Knoxville Tennessee, Knoxville Iowa or some other Knoxville.??????????????

Hope you get a good deal on that Valkyrie and that the spline is in good shape

or plan on spending some big bucks like my buddy Greg did.

Thanks for all the posts guys!  I live in Knoxville, Tennessee; actually a little place called Halls.  I have found a '97 Valk that I am very interested in with approx. 25,000 miles on it in supurb condition.  I know very little about the Valk and want to learn more.  I know a lot about Wings, I had an '83 and loved it but short legs finally made me buy a bike with a lower seat height.  I love my '04 Vulcan, it is pretty much bullet proof but I sat on a Valk a few months ago and realized that my feet actually reach the ground on it.  I have to sell my pristine Vulcan before I can buy a Valk but want to learn all I can about them in the meantime.  I do most all my own wrenching and any mods that I make.  Thanks again for the warm welcome!

I ride thru Corryton a lot.  131 to Hwy 25 is a favorite road close enough to ride often.  I have to teach a Basic Rider's Class this weekend but other than that, let me know how to get in touch with you and I will call whenever I head your way.
