Bikers don't need shrinks!

Just a quick FYI that to show "offline" donations on FirstGiving.com, you need to go back in and enter either a bulk number like it had before or you can give individual donors credit on your page.  This was because of an upgrade they made so you can give that recognition to folks who give you cash or checks in addition to the automatic tally of online donations.

If I remember right, VRCC tally is up around $2500-$3000 right now if you count offline like the charity run proceeds.

Might send out reminder emails now asking for donations so you get them in by the extra drawing ticket deadline.  If you don't have a page, join the team quick and send out those emails.  Here's the link for the team  http://www.firstgiving.com/process/teamarea/default.asp?did=1335&TeamId=88087&EventId=61822

Thanks to all the volunteers who help to put this on each year. The VRCC is always well represented.  Details on volunteer training the thursday and saturday before the ride are forthcoming (only attend 1).  I met a young man at a restaurant tonight who is a brain tumor survivor and he is very grateful to the bikers who volunteer and raise donations for research.  He had no idea that all this outpouring from bikers goes into helping people like him and their families.

Remember, volunteers still get to register and ride so you won't get left behind!

For those who are on the DFW VRCC team, if you could go back in to your page and update the "offline" donations (I just did one entry on mine, but you can do them individually), that will help us see our true progress. The zeros don't show the real story.  I believe we are up over $3,000 now thanks to your efforts and the funds that came in on the charity run.

Who else is going to try to put the VRCC on top again? We need a team effort to win again. Rainmaker, we need you in on this, too.  We also have some doctors in the club who probably appreciate how much help these kids and their families need.  Join the team and keep it fun!

5 minutes to join the VRCC team and then 10-15 minutes sending out an email to your address book asking them to donate to help save kids with cancer.  It truly is life or death for them - we just get to ride our bikes and have fun with them.

And, for anyone joining the team this week and getting some donations in, I'll share the story and a link with you to the underwear motocross ride fundraiser from last year that will definitely make you laugh.

Do we have more details on the volunteer training or did I miss it somewhere?  Place and time?  We will probably be going to the Thursday one.

Yes, thanks for volunteering.  Jeff will be sending an email out to past volunteers this week and getting t-shirt sizes for the free volunteer t-shirt, but here's the scoop for our "day of event" volunteers (about 70 positions to keep everyone's tasks light)...

"Please save one of these two volunteer training dates - Thursday evening, Sept. 30th, 7:30pm or Saturday morning, Oct.2nd, 10am. Training will take no more than an hour and a half. Both meetings are held at the host hotel, Springhill Suites Grapevine, 2240 W. Grapevine Mills Circle, Grapevine, TX 76051."

Thanks to all the VRCC members who donate their time for this event as volunteers.  The Texas VRCC has been volunteering in force at this event for at least 5 years that I can count.  You guys (and gals) make a big difference in making this ride go smoothly.  It's always a great time to pull together as you can tell from the volunteer pics from prior rides.
