catch the trees changing color next month.
After putting 10,000 miles on Rhonda in the past year that I've owned her, it's time for a real road trip. Long, straight, and flat Florida is OK, but I yearn to hit some twisties up in Georgia, and North Carolina. I'm planning a longggg weekend ride up, but when do you think the optimium time would be?

We have the annual " The Fall Color Ride " out of Robbinsville, North Carolina every 3rd weekend in Oct. Sometimes we hit peak colors sometimes only close....Traditionally the 3rd weekend is peak fall colors in both the east Tennessee and western North Carolina mountains. Come on up we'll have 50 plus Valkyrie's there. We'll be at The Phillips Motel and will ride in on friday evening Oct.15 the planned ride is saturday Oct.16 and we'll all head home on sunday morning Oct.17....I'm pretty sure we have SOLD OUT The Phillips Motel as we do year after year however there are other motels near by.

Man does that fit in quite nicely, our plan is to head out either Wed, or Thurs- I've got a buddy with a log home up in McCaysville Ga, that he has kindly offered for our use- I'll check a map but you being from that general area perhaps you could give me some input- Thanks, I've so looked foward to meeting some of the folks here for so long- this seems like it would be perfect.

It's a good hour plus ride from McCaysville to Robbinsville if you gas on it. We'll be at Micky D's right in the middle of town ( US 129 ) at 9:00 am for breakfast saturday morning Oct the 16th ( Rain Or Shine ). You are going to miss the best part of the ride thats hangin' out with folks at the pre-ride and post-ride fire pit party on both friday and saturday night. If you can swing it I'd suggest you get a room in Robbinsville.

Last couple of years the color peak has been late (late Oct. early Nov). But the dry weather this year "may" make the colors earlier and shorter (brown).
Higher altitudes turn earlier, Cherahola, will be brown or gone in late October.

Wife and I have been up to the Fall Color Ride the past 4 years. Always a good time with a great bunch of Valk Riders. Going again this year. Usually straight up thru Georgia on 441. Try to stay off the Super Slab !!!
If you would like to join up Slick - Let us know.

Whatever it is, it's better in the wind.
On a road less traveled.

Hey Joe, We actually get Breakfast before the ride this time?? When we were on the Parkway this past weekend, some of the trees were already showing their fall colors, so I am thinking with as dry as it has been that it should be perfect. Looking forward to it... Yuri
