Anybody able to provide feed-back on this camera?  Seems like it does a lot for the price tag.  Is it easy to edit when done filming?  Are there better cameras out there for filming my rides?  Thanks

Check out video from Colin.  Very cheap, about $12 from China and takes about 7-10 days.  If you try it, order a 4GB or 8GB Micro SD card from there also.  Much cheaper than your local electronics store.

I think Colin's video cam made good video...

But, remember, the goPro can make videos, or take a picture every five seconds, and some other functions. And it
can hook onto your bike a lot of different ways. And it has a waterproof case... I wonder if Colin's cam would still be
working after this?  Wink

The goPros have their problems... mine is an older one, only 3 megapixels, and it makes barely acceptable pictures.

I saw some newer goPro pictures that I thought were pretty good, but I don't really care for the ones with fish-eye
lenses... I think it is cool, but gets old quick like a novelty.

I have the HD Hero Go Pro. It takes amazing hd video with 170 degree wide angle. I was blown away by how good the quality was.

I looked at the HD Hero Go Pro.  Looks like great device with more features . . . but $2.99 (and $7-$10 shipping) for Chinese camera the size of my thumb compared to $299.00 for better and larger camera.  For what I plan to do, video on Valk through mtns, etc., and because I am sometimes cheep 2funny I went with $2.99. I always throw my digital camera in bag also.

If it rains and stop working, will just toss it in trash and get another. But I'm in the desert, so haven't seen rain in a while.  crazy2 2funny

DonaldCC, do you know what capacity Micro SD chips the little camera will handle?  Just won 2 of 'em on eBay.  I'd like to try it on the crashbars of my I/S to see how well it records the ride.

The hero is smaller than the palm of your hand. I think if you actually saw the difference in quality, you'd feel differently. 299 for the kind of quality you get from the hd Hero, is an incredibly low price. They even film underwater as well. I have over 20 thousand invested in my camera gear, this purchase was a o brainer.

jj,
The camera will hold up to 16 GB.  I think you can record about 40 minutes or so on 2 GB.  I got 2 GB at Best Buy for about $12 and another 4GB from China for about $8 delivered. (almost $30 at Best Buy)  Both are San Disk and are labeled "Made in China"

cooldude Yeh, I think you are probably right if you have that much invested in photography go for it.  Me, I have an old 7 megapixel digital that works great for me (and as I mentioned, I can be frugal at times) and the $12 chinese knockoff was a no brainer for me too.

I am up to Big Bear Lake this weekend (desert up to 7000' and about 200 mi round trip) and will try to get some pics and video.  Let's post some soon and compare.

I just purchased the HD Hero before our Labor Day ride through Deal's Gap and the Blue Ridge Parkway. My son mounted it on his helmet and rode the Gap on his ST1300. The video was amazing. While riding the BRP, we experimented with the 60 fps mode, and that was even more amazing. We filled our 16 gig SD card four times during our trip. When he finally gets some of it cut down to a manageable size, we'll put it on youtube. Great camera for a fair price, and it has a lot of different mounts that come with it. Hope it helps.
