Ever had a bike you really wished you'd kept but did not.

Well here's your chance to spill your guts.

Love this song.

Oh yea I had two, a Norton 850 Commando 1974 and a 1980 CB 750F, both great bikes and gave them up for nothing, Back in the day I use to change bikes a lot but I really had fun with both of those and wished I had kept them. The 850 put out a whopping 51 HP and vibrated like nobody's business but as a 18 year old I thought I was ruling the world. Spent a lot of time tightening bolts but even then I realized  a day on a bike or working on one was better that most other things I could do. I often wonder what the heck my parents were thinking letting me ride bikes when I was 17 & 18 years old.

I sold my 83 CR 480 and got a 86(?) YZ 490... what an expensive downgrade! If I'da just got a
good shock for the Honda, I would have had a better bike and a fatter wallet...

Not that the 490 was unridable...

Great post BIG AL, video brought back a lot of memories.
I'm in my 50th yr. of owning & riding motorcycles.
My 1st was a 1956 Triumph T-Bird, & i rode Triumphs 'til 1968, alongwith a 500cc Matchless & 250cc MAICO.
'68 to '80 i rode HD, FLH
'80 got my 1st of 4 Goldwings, '80,'84,'00, & '05.
In '00 i bought a '98 Valk standard, but sold it to buy the GW. Sad
ALWAYS regretted seeling the VALK. In '07 i had the opportunity to buy a '00 Valk Standard & i did Cheesy
The Valk is the only motorcycle i REALLY missed, altho i've enjoyed every motorcycle i've ever ridden,
the VALK is the only 1 missed enough to buy another.
This 1 will go to my Grandson when i can no longer ride. Cool

I finally after quitting competition Motocross bought a Honda CR250 and found out why I was getting beat in the turns.

That thing would turn on a half a dime and had about the same power as my YZ250.

Turning is where I was getting beat.

But If I started to win again I would probably not quit and be more crippled up than I am.

So all is good.

Thanks for sharing those MX pics, brings back memories.

Al

Here is a YZ 490 that is ridden by one of my heroes Brock Glover, the Yamahas were still yellow then.

I've owned two 750's this one was my favorite in fact I've thought about buying another one several times.I bought this bike with 2,300 miles on it. I sold it with 18,000 miles on it and made $400.00 on the deal .

An '03 Valkyrie Standard. I didn't get rid of it tho. Tropical Storm Frances took it away from me. Ins. Co. replaced it with another new out of the box '03 Standard but it is not as good as the first one. Seriously.
Not the same bike. Less power, worse fuel mileage and the finish on the chrome is no where close to the first one.
Good post Al, I enjoyed seeing the pics of the old bikes.  cooldude

Great post Al.  Nice to see those older bikes.  I had two '81 900F's but my favorite and one that I hated to part with was............my '97 Valk.

It made it easier since it went to Li'll D and Deb will take care of it.
