Has anyone here actually read the Koran (Quran)?

I found various renditions of it online, and have read about a quarter of the way through it (a translation of it into English). I've been trying to understand it (make sense of it).

Has anyone here read it? And understood it? (Inquiring minds want to know.)

I read it (And most of the other major religious books of the world) in my teenage years and early 20's, but honestly can't say I remember a whole lot of details, other than that by the end I knew it wasn't for me... (I reached the same conclusion on all the other holy books I read too though)

You could ask the same question about the Bible...You can have 10 people read a few verses and get 10 different answers as to what they got from it.As for the k(q)uran I've never even saw one.

Ive read it not all the way through it was written in Arabic which to the Muslims is the only real way that it can be read today. Below Is a link that may help in explaining what you may want to know. I have read the Bible through many times and wanted to read the Quran because I was interested in why are people really interested in being a Muslim. I had also heard some info and wanted to find if it was true. In reading the Bible I had a hard time when I first read it. So I read it through once then went back when done read it again and then the Lord opened up the Bible to me. It does make a difference as to why you are reading the Bible you will be hard pressed to read it once and get some significance from it. Pray and Ask the Lord to help understand what you are reading before you read the Bible you'll get so much more out of it.

I read quite a bit of it while I was in Desert Storm, trying to get to know my
enemy. All I remember is it mentioned the 'great flood' and Noah, a little bit
about how to make a deal or contract between two men (handshake, I believe),
a Muslim man can have as many wives as he wants as long as he treats them
equally, and a man is allowed to beat his wife 'lightly' if she disobeys him. Seems
like he could whip her with a stick as long as it was no bigger than his thumb,
circumference-wise. Been about 20 years ago so my memory might be a little off.
The Bible is MUCH better!!! cooldude

Did the same in college many years ago and reached the same conclusion. The Koran was a tough read much of it made very little sense to me but I feel that away about most of things written for religious reasons. Not all though, I do understand some of what is written in some of them.
