Today is the anniversary of the worst attack on U.S. soil in history.

We will never forget 9/11 or the people that were lost that day. Some of us knew them, broke bread with them, laughed and cried with them. They were our family members and our friends. Many of us never met those lost, but our connection to them is palpable just the same.  Our emotional and spiritual connection will unite us on this day each year, forevermore.

Though not their intent, the "faceless cowards" briefly united our country.  Unfortunate that I had to say briefly... United we stand, divided we fall.

Two flags flying today. One on the house the other fastened to the fence out by the highway. I hung a flag out by the road "the morning after".... I was the first in the neighborhood and probably the first in town to hang our flag after that unforgettable event. I scrounged an old wood fence rail made of split cedar, tacked the stars & stripes to it and propped it up the best I could out by the highway. Actually it closely resembled the ruins of the Trade Center, so old glory was symbolic of previous historic events besides showing my patriotism. I'll never forget. I love my country. Its my current government that concerns me. sheets

Connie, Thank you for posting That.  I know I will never forget, I can't.  Nor will I ever forgive those responsible, and those that refuse to hold them accountable.

I'll forgo the rest of my thoughts on the matter out of respect for the victims.

Good post Connie. And I agree totally. So sad it was "briefly" that we were united.

Good post & video. Thanks.  That song always gets to me when I hear it, especially in conjunction with a video of the Towers collapsing. It describes the American Spirit to a T.
