If you get one of F4Custom's shields, you can use RainX or whatever else you want. It's on my list of items I need to get in the near future...

I like Plexus best.  It will help make some of the small scratches not seem as bad.  Don't use Rain-x.  It's for glass.

RainX makes a marine solution for plastic. But can't remeber if it was for Plexi-glass or Lexan.

After using automotive spray wax on one windshield, plexus on another...   I have ended up using pledge lemon spray wax now for years.   It works like plexus, is inexpensive, and smells lemony fresh  2funny !

My last windshield has lasted longer than any, while using pledge.   I also use it on my automotive guage lenses.   Fills small imperfections and doesn't streak like other stuff.    My now 5 + year old windshield is not crazed (I am), and looks like it will last for some time yet.   And we do have those big bugs down here in TX ya know!   This year has been the year for grasshoppers.

I usually dampen a towel and let it soak on the thick splatters.. if I am travelling.. I spray the windshield, or spot the heavy bugs with pledge then begin cleaning.    It does not work as well on chrome, but it will, if you take time to get rubbed out.  Seems like plexus does the same thing!

Anyone else using Pledge???

I used Rain-X once on my OEM windshield when it was new and when I look closely I can still see very slight etching from it.  Don't do it!

I have found any of the auto detailing sprays works very well on removing hard bug remains and has done no damage to the windshield.

I like the pledge idea-- it's cheap, too.

The Spray Cleaner and Polish they sell at Honda shops and elsewhere is fantastic. You can use it pretty much anywhere on the bike.

I have a can of Rain-X I use on the glass windshields of my cars.

It has a warning on the label that specifically says not to use it on any plastics unless it has been specifically approved for use on that item by the manufacturer.

+1 on the Pledge.  cooldude

Ya, I use it for all the paint work and chrome too.  I also carry Pledge wipes in the saddlebags.

Lemon Pledge on windshield, plastic, paint, chrome (not pipes). After 10 or so applications you should clean it with hot water and carwash soap, or it can start to yellow...
Tried Rain-X on the inside of my helmet visor to keep it from fogging from breathing...High as a kite before I got the bike started. Use it on the car, though...

Been using Pledge for years.

If on the road and the shield is bug covered, I clean it at nite in the Motel, I use an old T shirt, one of the white, V neck undershirt.     Run hot water in the sink, drop the T in and get it dripping wet.   Walk outside and slid the T over the windshield.   Let soak about 15 minutes, pull the T off.  Take my towel from home and wipe the shield off, usually 1 or 2 swipes and it is bug, dirt less and shining.

The next morning just before I leave, spray on some Pledge and rub it dry with my hand, take same towel, hopefully dry by then and swipe off the excess and any film left.

I had cut down one of my shields, had Pledge on it, and it tossed the water right down my neck in a rain storm in Texas.   I don't think I'd of got any wetter  without a rain suit

I have been using pledge for over 25 years and have been very satisfied with it. Windshield cleans easily and no scratches nor yellowing for me.

I assume that ya'll are talking about using Pledge on a stock OEM shield.....right?  What about a Cee Bailey's, Clearview, Memphis Shades?  Pledge work for these shields and others too?

Clearview shields are ok for rain x according to thier directions that come with the sheild.  That being said I use a spray bottle of hydrogen peroxide to melt the bugs, wash it off with clear water and wax it with pledge   cooldude Hoser

BF, Pledge can be used on all brands of motorcycle windshields. Try it, I am sure you will love it. Use only Pledge brand as others apparently have different ingredients which does not work as well. As I said in my previous post I read about this in a m/c magazine many years ago, tried it and have stuck with it. Bugs come off easily and no streaks nor yellowing, etc. Ride Safe. Hef

My preference is Meguiar's Ultimate Quik Wax Item # G17516. I use it on the windshield, chrome, and paint. Works great on tough bugs. Spray it on, let it sit a few minutes, wipe it off with a micofiber cloth. Doesn't leave scratches on black paint.

Like Lemon Pledge too. Works great. Only issue is that it seems to attract bees when I use it.
