Candy Girl and I have plans to ride to Myrtle Beach on Wen. of bikeweek to hook up with some friends, I have favorite routes to get to there since this will be my 9th or 10th trip to bikeweek. Questions are on Friday we will leave and we need to ride to Gatlinsburg Tenn..Can't really explore too much because we have been told that we are expected in the early evening to prepare for a  nephews of Candy girls wedding.  :-\Looking at 501 to 20, maybe vering off on 34..hitting 26 to Ashville. Needing to get from Ashville to ride the Dragon again...been there a few times but been about 4 years. And how much time is involved to include the dragon instead of riding straight into Gatlinsburg.....thinking an hour and a half or so ????

You better add more than a hour and a half... I'd plan to hit The Blue Ridge Parkway in Asheville to Cherokee go through The Hellbender 28 to The Dragon then Foothills Parkway to Hwy321 . Take Little River Road back into Gatlinburg....<---Thats the scenic route and awesome ride on a bike but you will never do that in a hour and a half. Plan on about 6 plus hours but well worth it.

Hey Wolfe,

The 501 route to I-20 is a very good route out of Myrtle.  However to make the best time, it would be best for you to stay on I-20 into Columbia and hit I-26 up to Asheville.  If you take the backroads, even though you go right past my house on Hwy 34, your gonna loose a lot of time and money.  These piss ant towns on these backroads make you tow the line, especially Ridgeway.
But the interstate route to Asheville will definitely get you there sooner.
However from Myrtle to Asheville is gonna be a 5-6 hour ride.

Hope this helps.
