The North Georgia Motorcycle Club is headed from Canton, GA to Lookout Mountain this Sunday.  Smiley Come join us if you can.

Does anyone have a good lunch suggestion in or near Lookout Mtn? We will likely have 15 or so riders.

Thanks for any suggestions.  cooldude

If you want Catfish -- Catfish Cabin? on US 41 north about 10 miles into river canyon

For good food, good prices  -- City Cafe MLK Blvd and Carter street downtown Chattanooga.

For quantity over all else  --    Bea's in Rossville Ga.

For BBQ   - Sweeneys on US 58 north about 8 miles out of Chattanooga.

Downtown Chattanooga River front has 20 to 25 places to eat -  Big River Grill brew pub somewhat expensive but good. Sticky Fingers for BBQ, Taco Mac's for beer.

Let me give it some more thought........................

Of course we have all the nation chains also if that is needed.

dang...we'll miss you. We'll proabably be doing lunch on Cheaha Mountain...coming back from the Fort Payne/little River Canyon area. Might POSSIBLY go up to Chatanooga/Lookout Mountain area SATURDAY while we're up in that neck of the woods (assuming our possible plan works out for this weekend)............

Yes will do my best to join you folks. Thanks for the invite.

City Cafe   -   from Lookout MTN  -  north on Broad Street several miles then left on MLK Blvd 1 block to Carter St, left on Carter Street, immediate right into parking lot of City Cafe.

From I24  -- take the US27 north exit to MLK Blvd east turn right 1 block to Carter St. right and right into parting lot

City Cafe is on the SW corner of MLK and Carter.

we might very well go to Lookout Mountain...as it turns out...but...Saturday. In fact, i'm looking for a place to eat lunch as i write this (or right after i write it  Roll Eyes)...preferably REAL close to the actual Lookout Mountain. Like close to that leaning railroad thang??? or somewhere very near. We'll perhaps take the Lookout Mountain Parkway from Desoto where we are staying........up to Lookout Mountain...then do lunch....then go back to Desoto....perhaps?

We'll kill Little River Canyon and Cheaha in one gorgeous weekend! cooldude   Smiley

RedValk........

Sorry I do not know of any good eating places on Lookout Mtn.
Once you get off the mtn, it really is not far to downtown Chattanooga.
Like 2 to 2.5 miles up Broad St from INCLINE railway.

City Cafe(closest), Big River Grill and 25+ eating places(9 blocks further) on the river.

There is an ok eating place, Mt Vernon about 4 blocks from the Incline on Broad St.
Have not been there in quite a while

This weekend is the 147th Anniversary of the Battle of Chickamauga you can count on that area being packed...You may also be rollin' into traffic hell at Lookout Mountain as well with all the Civil War buffs in the hood.If you go for it anyway try Sugar's Ribs you will be glad you did  cooldude

Thanks Joe for the heads up. We are committed to the ride at this point.  Undecided

The ribs place sounds good, we may check it out. I think it is more in line with our route after lunch too.

Pete - got your email, thanks. What do you think, City Cafe or the Ribs place Joe suggests?  coolsmiley

Have heard good things about the rib place but have not eaten there. I will use this as an excuse and try it in the next couple of days and report back.

Sugars Ribs report:

Ate there today, had ribs, pork butt, slaw, beans, potato salad, tea, cornbread.
Serves BBQ only, typical BBQ setting, order at the counter, self serv drinks, select your table.

Food was good, tasty, service was excellent, price was high for this area.
Best attribute is the million dollar view, sits on western Missionary Ridge overlooks the entire valley. Patio covered and shady for lunch crowd, inside seating available with air.

Ribs are NOT baby back, they are country pork, so be prepared to deal with some fat and trimmings, very meaty, very good taste, tender  (not as smoky as I prefer) . 1/2 rack plenty for lunch. Personally I prefer country over baby back.

Pork Butt tender juicy - for my taste needs more smoke.
5 sauces to choose from - tried 2, both excellent.

All the sides and drinks were very good.

Everything priced ala cart:
Pork butt - $5+ per serving includes pork, pickles, onion, corn bread.
Sides - $1.25 to $1.95 per serving
Rib 1/2 rack - $10+ per serving includes ribs, pickles, onion, corn bread.

Personal rating definitely better than average, I prefer Sweeneys (more smoke)
Priced higher than average - Sweeneys pork plate and 2 sides $8.00

Probably would rank in the top 5 for BBQ in Chattanooga, with Sweeneys being number 2.

Food at the City Cafe is as good(no BBQ), with many more options(american and greek), priced slightly less expensive with Killer deserts. But NO view, NO outside patio.

As for location neither is very far from I24: Sugars is beside I24, City Cafe is 10 blocks north of I24.

Just let me know where and what time, and if you need directions or a guide to anything let me know.

RedValk  ----   eating place on Lookout Mtn.

Canyon Grill on GA 136 close to Cloudland Canyon MAY be a good choice.
Between 157 and 189.

I have not eaten there but the same folks have 2 other eating places that are excellent and very good.

Be happy to do that.
Ochs and 148 is on top of the mountain.
I will come up Ochs highway (also US58).

Suggested route to Sugars Ribs would be Ochs Highway down the mountain to Broad Street to I24 to East Ridge/Tunnel exit. Unless you prefer 148, then right on US41 to Broad Street then .........same

Sounds good. We'll look for you around noon at 148 and Ochs Hwy. I assume you will be on a Valk?

Actually, I may be on the VTX this time. But I will have 14 or so bikes with me so I am sure you will be able to see us coming.  Cool

Duffy:

148 and Ochs do not actually come together. Ochs Y's at top one to GA the other to Forrest Ave then to 148.

I am assuming that you mean 148 and Forrest Ave?

Is there anything anyone wants to do while on the mountain?

Do you prefer 148 or Ochs down the mountain?

148 crosses the incline (limited view) and goes by Cravens House and Ruby Falls.
Ochs has better but limited (trees) views of the valley and comes out at the bottom of the Incline.

You pick which you prefer and any stops if you all want any.

Sugars Ribs  opens at 11:00, so we should be fine there.
It is a 20/25 minute ride to Sugars depending on red lights and traffic.

OK your will turn right onto Forrest Ave. It is 2 or 3 streets after the Triangle where you will bear right in Lookout Mtn TN.

I will be setting there waiting on you by 11:30, if you get there before I do I will be coming up Ochs and Forrest.

Will be on a Red Standard or Green IS.

Looking forward to seeing you folks
