Well yes it's still frightful outside so surfing the net it is..I came across this 747 pilots page and he has a cockpit view movie of him landing in Dubai. It's kinda neat to watch. His pages are full of info on the 747 if you want to browse around.

I SEE A NICK ON THE FIRST STAGE BLADES. OUT OF LIMITS. MOTOR NEED TO BE PULLED. BY THE WAY. TELL THE PILOT TO NEVER WEAR HIS WATCH IN THE INTAKE.

Oh, whats a few dings.  You can always put a seat belt on it and fly it home on the other three.

I have worked motors that bad. all stages had to be replaced. most of the time the engine is a total wrightoff. would like to know the storie behind that photo.

I don't know what caused the damage (looks like FOD), but the way I heard it, it was a China Airlines 747 being ferried that way.  They had put the seat belts on to keep it from windmilling.  It landed in Frankfort for fuel and the German authorities wandered over and inspected the airplane and ended up making them change 2 of the engines before they would let them depart.

HMMMM....must be a foriegn carrier...The US airlines prohibit beards that prevent tight fits of oxygen masks in the event of an emergency requiring mask usage....
