Ok boys and girls, I'm formally announcing (suggesting) the first annual
Adirondack Americade Rib Run and Greet!
Yes, that works out to
A.A.R.R.G. ! Don't knock it, it took me all day to come up with!
Hears the plan:
Meet up at Lake George N.Y. Americade early the Saturday of the meet and cruise some of the back roads of Warren and Washington Counties, hitting (I mean driving over) a couple of covered bridges and passing through Picturesque Southern Washington County, home of American artist Grand Ma Moses. Crossing into Vt, we'll pass by (stop if you want) at the Memorial Park for the Battle of Bennington, an important battle of the Revolution. The whole area is dotted with Revolutionary Battlefields and important engagements. Theres more here than just Fort Ticondiroga. After driving through Bennington Vt, we'll take some of the most scenic roads in the area west through Vt. through some lovely small towns connected by wonderful twisties and sweepers. About half way through, if the group wants to, there is a large open air Flea Market we can visit. If nothing else, a good place to stretch the legs and let some people get a deal or two. The market is Biker Friendly.
Mounting up again, we head up,,, to the top of Hog Back Mtn. The scenic overlook offers (On clear days) a three state view, and is a great place for the shutterbugs! On the other side remains more of the same well paved sweeping turns we experienced on the way up, leading us finally to Putney Vt. In Putney will be our destination for lunch. Curtis BBQ. Mr. Curtis makes some of the best ribs I've ever drooled over myself, the meat literally falling off the bone. Dining is outside (Pavillion is available if we want), paper plates and cardboard boxes to bring the vittles over to our table. Its a great place with outstanding food. Check out the link below:
http://www.curtisbbqvt.com/index.html Heading back, we have a couple of options. North to Rutland, or straight back west (on different roads) back to the Manchester area and further west back to Lake George. If all goes well, I'm thinking we would be back in Lake George around 6PM, in time to enjoy the night life and "parade" up and down Canada Street.
Are you in?
