A bad map and a long ride in Northern New Mexico!

My wife and I were discussing a possible road trip thru Big Bend area around the end of October.  We had a tentative trip planned to Sparks, OK for a rally/motorcycle bash there around the 23rd, we decided the time might be better spent seeing the country than a drunken bash (go figure, I must be getting old).  Sad

It is quite a trek to get to Big Bend from Jacksboro.  I have done it before, and to do it over a weekend does take some riding!

We intend to ride thru Fort Davis, down to Presidio, along the Rio Grande back to Study Butte, then in and around the park.  I haven't decided the route back.. but am considering looping over towards Fredericksburg and up thru the hill country for the scenery.

Anyone else thinking about riding that way about the same time?  Company might be a good thing!!

We will probalby make a long weekend out of it, leave on Friday morning be back no later than Monday.  We are somewhat flexible of course.

Have you considered the weather for late Oct? Passed thru that area today, didn't need the A/C, had to turn it off and add heat for the wife. Good trip though.

If you are riding  and it is a must that you keep your eyes on the road, you are riding too fast.

You'll need to make sure you pack some cold weather gear as it will be cool in the morning and after the sun goes down in the evening.  The LaKiva is a good place to visit in Terlingua for food and adult beverages. Also the star Theather Cafe and gift shop is a nice stop. River road is a must. (170)

I always enjoy Big Bend, however we will be at the romp in the swamp Haloween weekend and the Lonestar rally the next weekend.
