GOT CURVES??

VRCCDS0184

« on: September 19, 2010, 08:34:05 PM »

I got on of these off Ebay for under $15 after a recommendation on this board.
http://shop.ebay.com/items/md80%20camera?_dmd=1&_sop=12&rvr_id=142619451051&MT_ID=69&crlp=5220134558_1&tt_encode=raw&geo_id=1&keyword=md80+camera&adgroup_id=1836314918

The frame rate is a little choppy at higher speed.
I just missed a bird while testing it out. Man it was close inches. The bird looked bigger in person than it did on film.

Im not sure yet. I plan on doing some more testing. It will hold up to a 8 gig micro Sd card. I only had a 1 gig on hand so thats whats in it. They say the battery life is two hours of recording. It recharges through the usb port. Its pretty impressive for something the size of a bic lighter.

From my tests so far it uses 2gig for 20 minutes recording. It will take up to 16gig cards (not 8 as suggested above the manual hasn't been updated but if you check the website that's what is now quoted). I have had about 2 hours out of my battery which is also what is quoted.

The conversion to wmv from avi has not helped with this video imho.

Use Format Factory which is free and downsize the avi file to 320 by 240 for mobile devices and it reduces the file size without degrading the quality.

Glad you missed that bird, Sharkey.   cooldude Don't think it would have felt to good to smack into that.

You can also get additional Micro SD cards from China at significant discount from local electronic stores.  I have tried mounting at various locations, vent in windshield, chrome on front fender, etc.  Camera bounces around some at different places.  I want to try taping it to my helmet.
