For a while I've had a problem with my Tourer. Running through the gears it seemed to be leaning out in the higher RPMs. It would stumble a bit and hesitate....sounding like it was sucking air and no gas. I bought a used gas tank on ebay (mine had a couple of dents in it) and it came today so I turned on the a/c in the garage and installed it. It came with a petcock and I decided to take a chance of it being ok and left it on. I took it for a test ride a few minutes ago and the bike pulls up to rev limiter with no hesitation. Is it possible that my old petcock was causing the problem and the one on the new (to me) tank is passing gas (ha...had to chuckle at that) properly?

Sounds reasonable to me! Could have been the petcock or the filter in the old tank. Glad to hear your problem is solved!  Cool

I didn't think about the filter...good call, very possible.

vacuum leak/s somewhere, ie pair valve hoses, carb insulator rings, intake manifold o-rings,
petcock diaphragm worn/leaking, search my handle for part info and installing a snubber in vacuum line, needle diaphragm/s leaking, tank vent line partially clogged. just some ideas.

Some day I'll find a mechanic who knows Valkyries and have it all fixed. Until then I'll just ride normally and stay off full throttle runs.
