Not heavy and large, but bigger, taller, strong and cheap.
Not gonna happen.
Here's the deal. Cheaper tents are heavier because they use cheaper materials and fiberglass poles which are normally heavier. More expensive 4 season tents for heavy weather are going to generally have aluminum poles and be in the 2-300 dollar range for the same size you have. 7x8x4 isn't a tent that I want to pack in on Alice. For backpacking we are down to tarps and hammocks because of weight.
Get a decent tent like this Coleman. They make decent stuff over the range of cheap to pretty good. I am probably going to buy a Hooligan 3 for my car camping trips, and the son is using a Sundome for tent camping with the scouts with no problems in the weather.
The first thing you should do is set it up in the yard, and hit it with a waterproofing. Unless you are in a hurricane, the tent shouldnt be getting wiped out on a single trip and a storm. Make sure it is right and tight when you set it up, and dryed out when you get home. If you put it away wet, you might as well stick it in the trash. It will stink and rot.
