I posted this on the technical board and after reading it I should have posted it on this board:

I have a 1998 std with 70k +, today I was out riding because it was a wonderful day in Central Florida. I stopped at a local motorcycle shop about 40 miles from the house. They were having a open house with free food (great pulled pork) free beer and free dyno. I did not put my bike in the line for dyno but went over to watch. Many HDs and one CBX 1000 (1999 I think) were in line and being tested. Most of the HDs were running aroung 75 Hp and making lots of noise. People were cheering for them. The guy doing the dyno came on the mike and said no more bikes I have to pack up. He then looked and me and said unless you want to put that 6 in line. I put my 98 std in line. It has 70k on it and the spark plugs have around 30k on them. It is stock, pipes, air cleaner etc. nothing aftermarket. The only changes on it are tire (Good Year TT), tailights (my own creation) and alt. cover (purchase from Gary). I was nervous when he pulled her up but felt good when she produced 90.92 HP and 87.18 torgue. There was an old guy standing next to me who had his HD done just before mine. He said I am sure your bike has  lots of HP but my bike has the torgue. Once mine ran and my HP was 16 more than his and my torgue was 6 more than his 6 month old bike with 2,000 miles on it I just looked at him and said Honda got it right with these bikes. I know the valk was supposed to put out more than the #s I got but I would like to see any other bikes with 12 years of age on them and 70k produced numbers as close to there original numbers as the fat lady did today. I was proud, it was like watching my boys play sports.

On September 12, 2009 the air temp was 96.9 and the AirP (in.HG) was 29.43 when my 99 Blk/Silv pulled up on the rollers with 48,000 miles on the clock and 9 years and six moths of ownership. Only exception to being completely stock trim is a set of Interstate carb springs. Exhaust and timing as it came from the factory and she netted 94.5 Hp@ 5991 rpm and 93 ft-lbs@ 4578 rpm. I was pleased. Only engine tuning other than regular maintenance was a carb sync at Inzane Paducah which was in ?? 2004.

Yup, had mine run at Paducah #1. The weather was miserably hot, as I recall the temp was well into the 90's with humidity to match. Didn't seem like a very good time to try a dyno run but a lot of us did it anyway. At the time, I had a 4 deg. T/W, I/S ICM and carb springs along with the K&N filter that was on it when I bought the bike. I was surprised with the run....turned 95.? HP(don't recall the fraction) and the torque just broke 90....again I don't recall the fraction. Since then, I've gone to aftermarket pipes and changed the slow jets, the jets shouldn't really affect the overall HP. I haven't tested it since, no need to, it gives me all I want in performance but it was nice to know what's there at least once upon a time. Sent it to my HD fanatic neighbor, he didn't find the humor in it but his wife cracked up.

Same hot day as John.....   John is on there with me.

3 weeks earlier and no modifications since that run and this one I done did lost about 9 HP.   I was over 100 hp on the California dyno.   Lot of difference in the heat and humidity between the 2.

My wife and I went to a Car and Bike Show today at Washtenaw Community College. Entered my totally unwashed, filthy and bug encrusted Rat Rod. It got a ton of attention from real bikers and gearheads alike. They took photos galore.

Any Bike entered could have it Dyno tested if it passed tech inspection. So why not I thought? There was another "pretty" Valk there but it had a bad tire so they would not test it.

There was a "Turbo Busa" that made 274 HP average of five runs. A new stock S1000RR BMW did 174 HP avg. A new GL1800 Wing pulled 99 HP and 99 TQ.

My Rat Rod was next with 91.9 HP and 93.1 TQ but notice the smooth curves though (damn Cobras).

Now that I see those figures, I do recall them. Guess I was close though. Sure wish I could find the printout he gave me, I'm sure I put it someplace where I could easily find it.  uglystupid2
