amplified speakers

I am trying to decide wheather I want anamplified speaker system on my Valk Tourer or is the new bluetooth headset better? Anyone have experience with this and if so, what brand do you recommend?

i am very happy with my amplified "rumble road" speakers.
they are mounted, with a home made bracket, on the front fork, behind the windscreen, close to handle bars and tank.



just connected power +12V to the grey cable, and i added standard cinch connectors (black & red cables)
so that i could run a cable from my garmin zumo 550 (with SD card for music)
to the cinches hidden below the T.

works very well on cruising speeds, even up to our highway speeds : 130 km/h = 80mph.
at higher speeds the turbulences get to load and i prefer to wear ear plugs on long highway trips anyhow.

I got 2" speakers from Cycle sounds. I like'm. With the headset I think you would have to wear your helmet the whole time. Sometimes you may want to set around and shoot the bull to some light back ground music.  Look kinda funny with the helmet on.

Here is my Book on the subject...I researched this to death before i decided to spend the cash. (thust the name "poman') anyway i listened to most of the ones out there at bike shows for about a year. The best sound came from the J&M 5 inch speakers the second best to me was the Kyriakn(sp?)  IMHO   ...Anyway I eliminated all others due to these factors... First I found the mounts to be of lesser quality chrome (or just cheap looking metal) than my bike. I wanted it to at least be comparable since they are mounted right out there for everyone to see. Both the two I chose made this cut (especially the Kyriakns) Secondly I wanted minimum of 4 inch speakers (self amped) anything less sounded too high pitched and tinty(if thats a word). And last I wanted the controls easily accessable and a clean install. no secondary switches and amps. The J& M's mounted way out on the handle bars at the mirror mount. BTW I see there is a new pair for sale in the VRCC clasifieds shipped for $350 or so.

I then looked at price and chose the Kyriakns. The J&M's were way out there ($500 plus) so were the Kyriakns ($400.) but I went to Ebay and kept searching over about a week and found a cycle dealer somewhere up north that will sell them... brand new with warranty for $265. Had them here in 3 days and installed in 30 minutes. They look awsome.  Fit and finish... you couldnt ask for any better. matches the quality of the bike very well. Volume control is on the Speakers and easily reached while riding. not like the othes with some seperate switch. These spekers only had a hot and a ground and a third wire that just plugs into your MP3. clean and simple. I can run my tourer at 70 and still hear "highway to hell" or I can pull along side a creek on a road trip for lunch and listen to the tunes.

Thats my two cents (maybe 50)  Poman out!

i use oneal tirade bluetooth helmet sound is not the best but works well good use more bass. I can hear it fine at 80-90mph on my tourer cobra pipes and if you want you can make a phone call?

  The kurykan ampilifed speakers sound pretty good, easy hook-up. They have a nice handlebar mount.

I love the Kury's. No problems hearing them up to 80 with the OEM windshield. They are smaller than the others mentioned too so they don't look out of place.

I've had the Rumble Road amplified speakers for 7 years on 2 different Valks and love them. On my first Valk I could hear them at virtually any speed, but it had stock exhaust. This one has Two Bros 6x6's on it and I can hear up to about 75-80 comfortably. Both of these estimates are with a tourer windscreen. With the windscreen removed, you can give it up around 35-40 mph. I use my iphone tucked into my tank bib pocket and keep it where I can get to the volume buttons easily. With gloves that's not real easy, so I really need to install a seperate volume control. Hey All, Any suggestions for 2000 interstate speakers? I would upgrade if I knew of something better (amplified ?)that would fit the fairings front and rear. Mine work fairly well , even up to 75 mph in calm air. If the wind is blowing ( always is where I ride ) the sound is garbled, I only enjoy the music after I identify the song. Know what I mean? Bought the best J&M head sets ( in helmet ) don't sound the best, difficult to find enough bass. Thanks

There have been many discussions over the years about upgrades to the I/S speakers. Do a search, I'm sure you will find plenty of reading material. I recall that some have used Polk marine speakers.

Check the search for replacements for the interstates. I did the up grade that uses JM speakers for the 1800 goldwing and I'm very happy with them. Front speakers are 4 and a half inches and the rear are 4in.
