Question about LeatherLyke supports

While working on my bike, I noticed the black spacer for the saddlebag support is a medium hard plastic. Is this normal? I would rather have stainless or aluminum, because I noticed they will still compress as you tighten down the bolt. Thier website is less than helpful.

GREEN LANTERN... WHY DONT YOU GO TO A GOOD SPECIALTY HARDWARE, OR A AUTOMOTIVE FASTENERS STORE, AND GET THOSE SPACERS IN EITHER STAINLESS OR ALUMINUM ? I KNOW YOU WILL BE HAPPIEER WITH THEM THAN THE PLASTIC BLACK ONES.

The install instructions on their site say that they are aluminium. That is what I have on my mounts, the sizes according to the mounting instructions are 8mm by 8mm and 10mm by 5mm. I have telephoned them (from Spain) and found them very helpful and they have shipped me spares that they don't list on their website. Well worth a call to them imho.
