My 2000 Valkyrie interstate is very hard to start in mornings when temps are around 50. Any body got any ideas or tricks they use to get their Valkyrie's started when cool out? Have right around 24000 miles on it and don't know what all the original owner has done as far as engine maintenance.

Probably not choking it enough. Push the choke lever until it stops, now push it another inch.

AND, before you say you already have the choke on, just go try to push it further on and try it.

Thank you, started a lot easier didn't it?

Oh yes, keep your hand off the throttle, don't mess with it till it is started and has run at least a minute....

I think every new valk owner has had that problem, including myself, figured it out myself, was before I discovered this site.   Evil hoser

I was lucky.  When I picked my first Valk up in South Carolina, the owner showed me how far and hard you had to push the choke.

I think you push it down to the split on the handlebar housing. I did a search on the old board for a picture that was once taken of the choke in its full position. I  found the post among several hundred(?) on the subject but only the dreaded "red X" was there.

You can look down, on the right side, just at the end of the chrome cover that hides the mechanism of the choke apparatus and watch for movement of the bar that controls all three of the enrichment valves.

It will not move until pressure is applied at the handlebars. Meaning: no "choke".

I have a 2000 I/S which was hard to start when it is in the 50* range.  I put NKG iridium plugs in two week ago and she is no longer hard to start, she fires right up.
I don't know what plugs you have in your bike, but the NKG iridium plugs solved the problem for me! I have used gallons of Tectron and Gum Out but the Plug change is what cured the problem. Of course each bike is a law unto themselves, so I don't know if it will solve your hard start problem.
