John's computer is hard down, It's security has been compromised, along with his address book. Apparantly some of his contacts are receiving spam-mail. (not from him) He asked me to let you all know. He is aware of this and working on it as I type.
Thank You,
-Doug

After setting up the new unit, I went through and changed all the passwords and security questions. Hopefully there won't be any more trouble. I had talked to Doug(Tundra) earlier in the day and asked him if he would post the explanation above, I had no idea I would be buying a new unit at the time.

I have software to transfer stuff to the new unit but think I'll wait a couple days before doing so, need to get used to this one first.

Be careful you don't load some of the s**t that caused the problem.  I just got a message from Norton that I could download a update to internet Security 2011. I contacted them first to make sure it was legit.  It was.

Good luck on the new unit.

John, look into Sunbelt Systems.

They have a firewall and virus checker all in one application.     It works slicker than you know what on a glass door knob.   It is called Vipre Antivirus Premium.

Clcik on the free download and evaluate it.

Thanks RJ, I'll take a look. I plan to scan every thing that gets transferred....before it gets transferred over.

I don't think you can beat Microsoft Security Essentials. It's free and who knows better than Microsoft about handling threats to a PC. I love how it works totally in the background 99%+ of the time. I'm a long time user and very happy with its performance.

John,

Give me a call, I think you have my number. My wife works for Symantec (Norton's) and I can hook you up with some good stuff that will keep the goblins away. I might even have some N-360 freebies laying around  Wink
