Nothing beats a 6-pack!

Well, I had made my decision to go darkside (well, never was MUCH of a decision!), and took several months to decide on the Hankook k106. Then, couldn't find anyone with one in stock. Someone mentioned the "D" word - discontinued!?!??

So, persistent booger I be, I kept thrashing the fallen filly...finally, found a place, on-line, that supposedly had one. I hammered the coffer, and ordered one - bamm!! First thing next morning, NLA!! As in No Longer Available!

So, I have since bought a used General Tire Altimax HP, 205-60/16. It has 80+% tread left, and was cheap. Figure that if for any reason I DON'T like the C/T, I'm not out a lot, or, if I like a C/T, but not happy with the Altimax, I'm not out a lot, either. I was a little hesitant, with a used tire, but 99% of my riding, at least for quite a while, will be gunshot riding, straight to work and back. So, any unpleasantness with a used tire, should be manageable. I'm sure there willl be some here, saying or thinking "How STUPID!!", but probably a few saying or thinking "That should be okay"...unless someone comes up with a REALLY  good, plausible reasoning for NOT doing it, I'll be doing it...

Now, I just need to get a little time to run down to Jabba's (don't give up on me, yet, J!), and pick up the Kenda for the front. I'm really thinking I'll just do ONE change at a time, the rear first, and get accustomed to it, before throwing a rear tire on the front, into the mix.

Now, a quick question - I understand about the nut cage mod - but I haven't seen anything other than reference to the washer mod - can someone point me in the right direction?

Did finish the trailer - just waiting on VIN from the state, so I can register/license it. It turned out rather well, and I'm required to send a side-view of it, to prove it is home-built, but the local cop who did the inspection, recommended I send a few pics of the construction, as he said they'd never believe it was home-built. Quite a compliment! I hope to post a few pics, when I can get either of the computers back up...

Okay, I found the washer mod - I had looked several times, but didn't find the links, now I have them. Makes sense, once you've seen it...

Bookmarked, just waiting on the tire...

80% of a car tire will probably last longer than two motorcycle tires.
I have a rear up front and you shouldn't even know that you did the front, so waiting probably isn't necessary.  I don't know this to be crash and burn important or if it even helps but darksiders tell you to run the rotation of the rear tire on the front opposite of what the arrow indicates.  I'm sure you've read about the rotation.

Hint:  I found that the CT felt mushy with  @32 lbs.  I like 40 psi in my CT.

Just be careful when you're riding parallel with any ridges or abrupt changes in the pavement.  It will want to toss you a bit.  Enjoy all that extra tread up front and rear.

just remember that the car tire is flat when you start using it. you will need to know that every little ridge, crack and swell will want the lean the fat lady. if you think of everything you have heard from the dark siders, you to can expect to know what is coming in front of you. you will need to know that the car tire will have to be pushed into a curve. not pulled away from the edge. once your done with the curve, the accelerator will be used to stand you back up. i give you 200 miles, then you too will know that there truly is no turning back. 15000 miles and counting.
i too have the k106, depressing that it is no longer available. please let us know how you like the one you are getting. i had $100 in mine with install and balance the first time. balance my own now.

Better to be judged by 12, then carried by 6.
