For those coming in from the East. Interstate 10 is known for being a crappy freeway, but now they've made it worse

Around Baytown, Texas they've closed it down to one lane in each direction. This past weekend my driving buddy said the backup was 8 miles long. Backup here is defined as moving 5-15 mph. To avoid this I would get off I-10 in Beaumont and take College St. exit (Highway US 90) to the west. This is a decent roadway, although not a freeway. Traffic usually moves well. Small towns along the way, and the occasional speed trap

(sorry Brian). Stay on this road to Beltway 8 on the east side of Houston, and go South. Part of the Beltway is a tollroad, but it moves (usually very fast traffic,,refer to NiteRiderF6's previous posts regarding this)

. Take this south until it meets Interstate 45 (Gulf Freeway), and go south. At this point refer to Hotglue's map on which exit to take. You won't be more than several miles from your exit. Mapquest Beaumont Texas to view map if needed. Good luck, and we'll see ya' there. !!
