Barbo & I, as many of you know, bought our first Valk back in July on our way to Inzane X. Since then we have been riding and enjoying the friendships we made there. We love riding the Valk.
Barbo would ask questions about driving and I would answer. She is at the point where she is thinking about her own bike.
So, when a co-worker approached her about selling his Honda Shadow we were somewhat interested. It is a 1997 Shadow, red & white, just like the Valk and only has 7,000 miles on it. He has only put around 50 miles on it the last 2 years and didn't think he needed it anymore.
Well, today we bought it.
Barbo will take the motorcycle riders course in the spring (Wisconsin you know) as classes have ended for the year. After that we will see how she likes it because she still likes riding.

I still think she should take the MC course, but can't she take the written test and then ride along with you?  That way she could get at ease with the bike on some nice weekends. Texas allows learner's permit after passing written test. Then has to have a licensed MC rider 21 or over within sight.

thanks henry. yes i can take the written test, pass it and get temporary permit - good for 6 months. And can be renewed once. Not really worth the cost for maybe the few good days we have left. And before i take it on the road, I do need to get tires. The originals have cracks in them. Gonna make the bike safe before i grab the bars! We'll find some large secluded lot somewhere and sneak a few trials there. I will be ready for that course in early spring. You can count on it!

Hi to all on the site! My wife of 30 years and I kinda sorta did the same thing. I sold our 1995 Gold Wing and bought our 1999 Standard in April and traded our 1986 Gold Wing for a 2005 Shadow Aero for my bride. She took the drivers course at our local community college and now has over 1000 miles on it! The neat thing is that she is starting to ask about different customizing items for her bike! For a lady that thinks of a car or vehicle as only a tool to get a job done, to me this is just great! Hope all goes well with your wife's new adventure. Larry Gill in East China Mi. cooldude

Same here in Colorado.
