Hi All,

New member from Australia. I thought it would be polite to introduce myself.
I just picked myself up a black 97 Valkyrie with 58000km.
It is one owner and came with some nice extra bits. I have a long line of motorcycles mainly
of a sporting slant.  My only other cruiser to date has been a Rocket III which i loved but was forced to part with when I was made redundant from my previous job. I have young children and a wife and the need for huge lean angles and ridiculous speed just doesnt seem so important. I wanted something unique and NOT a Harley. They just dont do it for me.

I had looked at Valkyries previously but due to the low number imported down here and great reputation the prices have remained sky high. Finally i found one in my price range and here I am.

The bike really is fantastic. That motor is an engineering marvel. How it can be so liquid smooth is astounding. It handles fantastically well for its size, much like the Rocket, but I have to admit it really has something special about it. The rocket seems agricultural and rough next to the Valk. The Valk doesn't have the brute power of the Trumpy but it has more than enough go, and it somehow feels majestic when riding it. I have only had it for less than a week but I really love this bike.

It isn't perfect of course, the riding position is taking some getting used to. At 6'3' and 130kg i feel a little cramped in the legs. Highway pegs will be first on the list.

I am more into the roadster look than the touring thing. So I will be fitting some Cobra 6's and stripping it down. I think the suspension needs some love as it is pretty bloody harsh.

I have a heap of questions, but I have been utilising the search feature and finding most of my answers there. No doubt there will be some issues I would love your advice on.

This bike is a keeper. It was either the Valk or Rocket that interest me and the Valkyrie just does it for me. Thanks for reading this rant. It turned out much longer than planned.

Cheers

Welcome aboard. Rant all you want, I love the Aussie terminology.
When I was there I absolutely fell in love with the country and folks.
I still laugh when I think "laughing at the lawn".
See, there I go.
Oh yea, congrats on the best bike ever.

Welcome from the other side of the world. I have only had my Valk on the road since June (after a rebuild) and without a doubt it is the best bike of its type that I have ever ridden. Any excuse to go out on it.

Enjoy yourself  cooldude with your new ride.

Well, you wouldn't expect much else from this crowd, but we already think you must be a pretty smart guy.  Afterall, you bought a Valkyrie! Smiley  Welcome to the group!  What version Valk did you get?  Got pics?

"...and it somehow feels majestic when riding it"

Perfect description.

That sums it up wonderfully well. Majestic.
