I change plugs at the end of each riding season and have noticed the #1 cylinder always appears to be running leaner than the rest.  The bike runs okay, there is no popping from the exhaust. It has been desmogged and I have synced the carbs and adjusted the valves.  The pilots are at 2.25 turns.  Would re-adjusting the pilot or shimming the needle for the #!1 cylinder be an appropriate way of addressing the problem?

u need to raise the front 2 carb needles. the front carbs are in a slave configuration for fuel supply. Factory Pro confirms this and I have also experienced it.  Factory Pro also recommends that the front jets go down one jet size for max power, but how often is anybody always at that rpm. And Factory Pro is located where their temps and humity are 70-90 degrees and low humity. They keep the idle mixture the same all carbs.
This is with stock and after market exhaust. If your stock exhaust and intake I wouldn't worry about the mains.

Please explain what you mean by "slave configuration"

Who is "Factory Pro"?  How can I browse the same information?

I am under the assumption the needles are non-adjustable. Just what is the operation to achieve the raising please?

Thanks, Ricky-D

the rear carbs both banks receive their fuel supply via Tee fitting btwn the carbs, the front carbs receive their supply from the middle carbs, not from a fuel line directly from the petcock, hence the secondary(slave) configuration.

www.factorypro.com  needles are adjustable. They are richer than oem, but less rich than dyna/cobra/viking needles which I surmise are all the same. I have viking and dyna needles and they are the same.

OEM needles are non-adust. However u can add washers under the stock washer to raise them up.
