Hi all, I'm new to the VRCC, although I've been lurking since I bought my Valkyrie, a '99 Standard, in August. I'm a longtime Honda rider, my last ride being an '05 VTX 1300C. I've admired Valkyries since they were first introduced, but I suppose was a little intimidated by the sheer size of them. The irony is that it handles better than any of the lighter bikes I've owned. Anyway, I'm glad to finally own one. Mine had very low miles for the year, and since I had sketchy and unverified prior maintenance information, I've pretty much done anything called for under the maintenance schedule, plus a few others such as installing new #38 slow jets and a 3-circuit fuse block (one to power the light bar, the other two for Powerlet sockets, one in the right neck cover, the other on the left engine hanger). My first investment was the Honda service manual, but I've found even more helpful "how-to" information on this board (such as how to put the freakin' air box back in).
I'm 50-something, and plan on riding as long as my body and brain let me, and as far as I'm concerned, I've found a bike to last the rest of my life. I really do think it's the best all-around cruiser ever made. Smooth, powerful and agile, with stunning good looks.
I look forward to exchanging opinions and information with you all, and hope to meet as many of you as possible in person. Ride safe!

It still one of the finest cruiser ever to roll down the road. And I think many agree judging by the resale. They bring more$$ than some 2 year old left over VTXs I have seen.. Welcome from Holland Ohio

Thanks, guys. Being a senior member of the VTX Owners Association board, if this is an asylum, it'll just be a lateral transfer!

Welcome aboard from another new owner. I got mine after being off bikes for 25 years. Had two small bikes, 25 years later bought a trike, and decided I wasn't ready for three. Wife said a bike was cool with her, as long as I bought a BIG bike. LOL!!
When I first sat on the Valk I was too intimidated to ride it. Grabbed my gonads and ran home. Bought it several weeks later. As you said, I think it handles better then my old small bikes.
I was lucky enough to find one with the pegs, seat, and bling I wanted, so I haven't had to spend any money on it. But that's going to change, no doubt.

Welcome ILcruiser, there are several Valk riders not too far from Crystal Lake so hopefully we can catch a local ride sometime. Glad you made the move to the Valkyrie and I'm sure you'll be a long time fan of these awesome motorcycles.
All the best,
Mark

Thanks for all the well wishes, and nice to hear from the IL Valk riders. I'm always up for a ride, hope we can hook up sometime!
Chiefy, unlike you, my bike is in definite need of bling. I've been kind of slipping boxes of chrome stuff past my SO (Significant Other), but she's working from home today and I'm expecting a delivery, so I think I'm about to get busted. As they say, it's easier to beg forgiveness than to obtain permission.

Welcome, ILcruiser!
I believe you're going to like this place!
BTW, I bought my bumblebee in Crystal Lake! The title had a Romeoville address on it.

My trike was completely "blingless" when I bought her. Thousand or so bucks later, I said next bike is going to have some of this on it. Got very lucky with the Valk. Prev owner seems to have liked the same stuff as me. Corbin seat, chrome everywhere, ISO grips, Kury highway pegs, etc..... Check out this site's sponsors for some nice bling.
