Looks like I won't be doing any "lurking" or browsing this forum for about a week.  Heading to the VA hospital in West Roxbury, Ma.  tomorrow morning for the much needed knee replacement.  I'll be able to give an update once I am released to go home after a 3-5 day inpatient stay (going to be boring as ever since family lives in NH and I don't want them travelling all that distance dropping in to check on me, I'm going to drive the staff crazy!!!!!  uglystupid2 crazy2 ).  Scheduled this as to not interfere with the riding season Smiley

You will have a fun time at therapy.

Do as they say and EXERCISE, EXERCISE, EXERCISE, EXERCISE, as much as possible.

Yes I have heard >>>>>>> I will look forward to therapy with a smile on my face!  Many have told me to not be a slacker when it comes to "pushing through" the pain during therapy.  The end result will be worth it!

Cliff,

I had my right knee replaced in Dec. of 05. Finally got to ride
the Valkyrie I bought in Feb. in April of 06.  4 months ! Yes the rehab
is really all it is talked..See if they can send  you home (or rent one) with a CPM (continuous passive motion) machine. It is your friend.... the  old adage holds true with these replacements..

Knee surgery went well with only minor complications (small infection in surgical area and some lower back issues).  After 7 days in hospital was transferred to a rehab center and "escaped" that place after three days.  Was supposed to stay longer at rehab center but now I know why some folks have a VERY low opinion of nursing homes. Horrible place!!!!!!!! I insisted that I not be held against my will and be released to have in home PT.  Once I was home things were much better.  Now after 3 weeks am able to walk with limp and small amount of pain but range of motion (limited range causes the limp not pain) is improving PT gal measured it at -5 to 96 degrees today which was an improvement over last friday's measurement.  Getting antsy to ride again but that ain't happening till spring and by then I should be good as new!
