Who makes a windshield for the I/S ? I looked at Showchrome, Clearview and Tulas anyone else? I like the wilder Showchrome but too tall, Clearview too pricey for the GT short, Tulas too tall.

Hey Jack
I'll be replacing with an F4 come spring. I believe they're the only ones that offer their shields in polycarbonate.

I have the Show Chrome (wider/taller) and really like it. Looks much better than stock to. I wouldn't mind having another, shorter/sportier shield for the dog days of summer tho..

Get the showchrome and cut it down like I did. A jig-saw with a fine toothed blade for plastics works well. I covered both sides of the cut area and the bottom of the jig saw with masking tape to keeep from scratching the windshield. I used the stock windshield to mark the cut line and then went to cutting. finished off the edges with very fine sand paper on a sanding block and then polished the edge with rubbing compound. Can't even tell it's been cut down from looking at the edge.

How does the tint look? I've been eying them but I never have seen one in person. Is it really dark enough to tell it's tinted?

What does JCW charge for that shield and how much was shipping ??? Curious minds want to know... Edit ... I looked it up.... 139.99 and I think at least 23.99 shipping (19.99 plus the surcharge for being large). Shipping was not firm tho.... I got a conflicting window regarding shipping... and my question regarding shipping remains a valid one. Thanks....

I have the Show Chrome shield. I think it looks nice and it blocks wind from hitting you very well (not a good choice in hot weather). I couldn't believe how much wind I got on Alph's Interstate compared to mine! The shield is not tall enough for my liking, so it'll likely end up hitting the classifieds in the spring.

If you're not prepared to cut your new windshield, that would probably determine where you bought the windshield-the one with the right dimensions. I've had the OEM(15in), Tulsa (+4" in windth and height), a shorty, and a cut-down Tulsa. I'm 6'2" and the OEM had a lot of wind noise and buffetting but pretty good wind protection and I could see over it. The Tulsa was quiet without buffetting but I looked through the windshield and that had its problems as you would with dirty, foggy eye glasses. The wind protection could get too warm and insulate you too much from the motorcycling experience. The sporty or shorty didn't provide wind protection necessarily but there was not unreasonable buffetting and very nice on a hot day-besides it looks fast. My cut down Tulsa is still about an inch high but provides good wind protection and no buffetting.
What works for me may not work for you BUT I think you should either buy the one that fits your height or buy one and cut to your preference. It's nice to see over the windshield but be able to duck down behind it.
One foggy day day behind a big ole tall Tulsa and you'll be regretting all that protection.

I have the ShowChrome that is two inches over stock height. I'm 6'2" with a 35in inseam and about 265lbs. I have an ultimate bigboy seat and with this arrangement I look just over the top of the shield and have good protection for self and passenger. If it gets real ugly I can duck behind shield for rain protection. Hope this helps you.
