This past weekend I posted about Steve Pohl, a recent addition to our group and lives in the Orlando area, who crashed his bike a few days ago. He had posted a few weeks ago on the Florida board wanting to know of a mechanic in this area. I volunteered, got him up and running, and best of all....made the acquaintance of another fine person. The area of the crash is a bad section of road and I'm sure had much to do with the accident. He didn't hit anything, nothing hit him, he just was thrown off the road. He separated from the bike and landed in the road, breaking some ribs and left shoulder blade...along with the nasty road rash associated with pavement contact. The gouges on his helmet are evidence of the importance of wearing one, most likely saved his life. He's now out of the hospital but obviously won't be riding for awhile. He's a couple years from retirement so you know the healing process will take longer than some of you 40ish and younger types.

Meanwhile, he will be looking for some parts, the bike went down on the left side and ended up in the ditch. I've ridden the bike and checked it over a bit, here's my initial quickie review; the left pod is history, as is the left saddlebag. I believe the left end of the fairing is repairable, but will need a new windshield, new garnish below the w/s and the headlight chrome garnish. The left rear speaker housing is pretty rough but believe the trunk itself is repairable. I also seem to recall the left front turn/run light mount is broken.
That's the initial stuff, more may show up as time passes. If you have any of the above, shoot me an email and I'll pass it on. Or, if you want his email, let me know and I'll ask him if it's ok to share it. Naturally we'll be checking Ebay and eslewhere, but thought I'd check here as well. The cost is all on him....long story that doesn't need to be shared.
As some of you know, when this happens you begin to question your decision to keep riding, especially when you are our age. Hopefully, by the time he and the bike are repaired that will have passed. This happened last Saturday and his first comment was; "I should have gone to Dade City with you instead."
Keep him in your thoughts and prayers, broken ribs and shoulder blades are painful.
