Russian Navy Captures Somalian Pirates and Ship!.. Then disposes of them!... End of problem! Amazing video! Court held on the High Seas A brutal but effective way to deal with the piracy mess. Looks like the Russians get their act together before we even have a clue. Just like Hiroshima , an act like this can save a lot of lives and prevent major future loss of life and property. An historic and effective way of dealing with the lawless. They did make one mistake. They should have saved one pirate and sent him home with the story... Read the info below the link before watching the film clip. RUSSIAN NAVY CAPTURES SOMALIAN PIRATES http://true-turtle.livejournal.com/85315.htmlThis videotape shows Russian Navy commandos on a Somalian pirate ship shortly after the pirates had captured a Russian oil tanker. The Euro Union navy that patrols these waters would not interfere because they feared there could be casualties. All explanations are in Russian with a single exception of when a wounded pirate says something in English and the Russian Marine says "This is not a fishing boat.". All conversations between the commandos are in Russian. If you don't understand Russian, the pictures speak for themselves. The Marines freed their compatriots and the tanker. The Russian Navy Commandos moved the pirates back to their own (pirate) ship, searched the pirate ship for weapons and explosives, and then they left the ship and exploded it with all remaining pirates hand-cuffed to it.The commandos sank the pirate ship along with the pirates and without any court proceedings, lawyers etc. That is, they used the anti-piracy laws of the 18th and 19th centuries where the captain of the rescuing ship has the right to decide what to do with the pirates. Usually, they were hung. I would think from now on, Russian ships will not be targets for Somalian pirates. A MOST EFFECTIVE WAY OF DEALING WITH PREDATORS. ACLU WOULD NOT APPROVE!

Obviously not the same incident. ALL Pirates were killed savagely and brutally in the first posting here with video.
In your CBS news posting there were 3 Pirates not killed and it sounded like the EU Navy was more involved in the CBS report.

They might be the same.... looking at the dates they appear to have happened or were reported in the same Month (approx May 11th). The link with the video appears to be an internet "blog" of some sort, not a news agency (even if you consider them credible), with a You Tube Video that really doesn't show the Pirates on the boat as they blow it up.... but I can see how one could easily be led to believe that I guess.

The dates are seperate, one May 5th, the other more serious incident when the Russians were still perturbed by the first was May 11th, then the Russians retaleated with enormous deadly force.
If you read the incident report of the two different attacks you will see they are very different, with different casualties, etc.
I'm sure if we could understand Russian there would be no doubt about the vallidity of the video with Russian conversation about the Pirates being taken to their mother-ship.

I tried to translate that Russian stuff on that website but it didn't make any sense at all, and I can't read it. I understand the dates are slightly different but within the same month.... and I think that video link was the later post if I recall?
What are you using to translate and read that web page?

Thanks... that worked to some degree, still difficult to read. But I doubt they are different incidents... this link is to a blog posted only few days after the CBS reported article..... and we know how blogs or internet message boards can be. And that Video is inconclusive......

Sounds like the Russians don't want us to know exactly what happened because they actually acted in a brutal and savage way, probably killing all the Pirates.
The Russian translation was poor at best and sadly didn't give us much insite as to what happened.
The Russians are notorious for strong military action in Germany (1945), Hungary (1956) and Afganistan (1980's), Chechnia (currently) they usually take no prisoners unless they have a reason to.

Does it make any sense that the Russians would destroy the Pirates perfectly good fishing boat, then release the Pirates on a perfectly good life raft which they paid for (and might have been able to use or needed later on)???? I think not. I would now speculate (and bet a cup of coffee) that all 3 reported incidents are one in the same, and that the pirates did perish on their own boat.

The KGB or whatever they call it now must be watching because the post by ? serf or whatever his name was disappeared into thin air ??
He apparently used Google Translate to translate the Russian into English.
It was I that posted the translation link, and the post is still there as far as I can see...

HURRAAAAAYYYY for the good guys. "Dis ees fishing boat". HAHA. What are you fishing for? Problem solving skills go to the guys wearing cammo in this excersize. As for "strong Military actions", remember Gen. Pershing wrapped em n pig skin and let one of em go. Ended the problem for 70 years.

Retired Col. I take hunting with has some interesting stories from his days in Lebanon. Groups there would kill one of our people or CIA people, nothing would happen.
The Russians got two of their guys killed. The next day they went out and picked up 2 guys from a variety of factions, about 12 in all. They cut their testicles off and let them go. Col was not aware of any Russian's getting killed after that.
Fear can be good thing sometimes.

I think that is called the Deterrence Theory... and it could be applied to help protect our borders and enforce some of our own laws as well.

i agree with the strong arm tactics used by the russians, but you have to see the Irony of the Statement, what are you fishing for?
Those seas have been plundered of their fish by the large EU fleets and the Russians, there are no fish left for the fishermen, the somalians have no navy to defend their fish stocks.
The brit navy has also killed quite a few pirates and sunk their boats
