Saturday I took the ST1300 up to T.W.O. for the annual 50cc Rally. I'd never been before and hoped the warm, dry weather would make for a good turn out.

20 miles from home I visualized my camera laying on the kitchen table. Darn it.

What a hoot. There were about 60 bikes taking part in the afternoon road rally. As the organizers keep repeating "IT'S NOT A RACE".

Before the bikes left T.W.O. I rode ahead and found a good vantage point at the end of a long straight on a right hand sweeper followed by a slight uphill left hander. The sound of the 50cc engines approaching took me back to when I used to go to bike races in England when two stokes ruled.  After about 30 of the bikes had screamed by me ; some ridden by very portly riders but zipping along none the less; I followed a small group of 4. Wow these little buzz saws were really moving along at a good speed. 60 mph on the flat and 80 on a slight downhill gradient. NOT A RACE - YEAH RIGHT! I love the smell of two stroke in the afternoon  Grin

Sunday morning I headed north on the KLR to meet some other dual sport riders for some forest road fun.

After waiting at the designated meet stop for 20 minutes and not knowing if they were ahead or behind me I decided to follow the agreed route and if not successful in finding them at least be ablt to join them for lunch.

Arriving once more at T.W.O. I saw 2 of the 50cc bikes in the parking lot. These were top of the line as far as fit and finish were concerned. Some of the bikes yesterday were rough.

After regrouping during the lunch stop we went off on some roads I had never ridden before.

For the past 12 months I've beena ble to tale a short cut over a closed bridge. It had an earth berm each side making it impossible for large four wheeled vehicles to get over the small creek it was built over. Not a problem for the local ATV owneres or a KLR.

No longer a short cut unless I try a Evil Knievel
