Anybody have trick to disconnect electrical connector off of ten year old headlight bulbs on
IS so I don't have to remove fairing?

Thanks
Got new bulbs in today, thanks for help here are some tips for those who do theirs next:
1. connectors do come off with wiggle up - down - side to side, small hands, strong fingers needed.
2. Do not need shims, lined mind up before and after against wall, new bulbs no shims aligment same.
3. I put electrical grease on new bulb prongs so connector comes off easy next time.
4. Bought bulbs at Wal-mart 9003 Silverstar st. Bent off two lower side tabs. Sale $28 for 2 cheaper ones available.
5. Much easier to work with bike on lift.
6. Spring clip- to release push down slid to left. Spring clip- to close push down slide right
7. The job is done all by feel, can not look at and work same time.

You real handy if you can do bulb replacement in a parking lot with no lift.

I replaced a bulb on an 01 I/S yesterday. Best advice I can give is patience and perserverance. I alternated between tugging and side to side and up and down wiggles.  Smiley I do not know if this was the original bulb so I don't know how long it had been in there. I do know it was tuff to remove the connector.
You prolly already know of this link but in case you dont:

What ever you do, protect your fender with a towel or pad.  I changed my light on a Tourer last week and when tugging on connector - the light casing slipped out of my hand and put a nice mark on my fender.  Learn from my stupid mistake.

I had a similar issue on my 99 I/S last week. I ended up using a small flat head screwdriver (about 4" in length) as a minature pry bar. I placed it between the connecter and the bulb and slowly pried at it.

After getting the plug to move just a tad bit, it came  off readily by hand.
