Hi:

I'm getting ready for the upcoming riding season, and I recall an annoyance from last season. Trunk rattles. When riding over bumps with an unloaded trunk, I recall that there seemed to be an inordinate amount of rattling going on. Has anyone else experienced this, and did you fix it in anyway?

Thanks in advance.

that small rubber nubs were put beside the hinge to stop the rattle.
i've seen small rubber feet with peel-off backing on them somewhere, just can't remember where.
i need it too.
sorry couldn't be of more help.

Try Homedepot for them, they are also used for cabinet doors.
Go the the section where they keep the nuts, and bolts.

I placed little stick-on rubber pads on the trunk, opposite the upper hinge screws.  Problem solved.

Thanks guys for the info and graphics.

I did a search in the Old Tech Archives last night for the rattles too. I found a couple of other interesting comments and fixes about the rattles. No pics though, thanks Kingbee.

Last year my trunk seemed to rattle more than before (also added the stick-on bumpers). Found that the trunk seemed loose on the mounts. After tearing down the entire trunk, I found that the rubber mount/isolators had broken the holes in the inner trunk. A replacement inner trunk was over $800.00 through Honda.

I had some ABS sheet and I bought some ABS adhesive. I glued the broken parts as best I could then formed reinforcing panels for the mounts from that ABS sheet and glued it into the inside of the inner trunk.

Presto,.....fixed for less than $10.00 rather than $800.00. Although there are soo many parts to that trunk that you wouldn't believe. Had to be at least 30 screws of various sizes (a real puzzle).
