Hi, I am new to the Valk forum... (been reading threads for a few months) and I have a 2000 Black Valk that is now ready after being gone over completely and adding some mods. Unfortunately, the riding season here is coming to a close. Have had various bikes over the last 30 years... currently an 02 Honda Ace cruiser. Sadly, my brother passed away on July 9th and left me with a few vehicles as well as the 2000 Valk that he bought new in 2000. He's riding with a few of his friends now.. While he was sick, it fell into some disrepair and was in the elements with just a tarp over it. We have a family friend in Ct. (where the bike was) that owns a MC shop and is doing the restoration. He has experience w/ Valks. I ordered a number of items and had them shipped. (I'm in Mass.) Memphis Fats windshield w/ quick release, Mem Shades Lowers, New Metzler rubber, progressive fork springs, progressive 412s rear, Edge Ghost bag brackets... (haven't decided on what bags yet) Rebuild on all 6 carbs, all new cables, lift adaptor, Kuryakyn ISO grips, Kury Dually Pegs, Kury Highway Pegs, Kury Powerpoint (for Navi), Mirrors, Radiator cover (DRAGON) My brother also had a Rivco Centerstand in the house that was never installed and not sure if I want to put it on or not. It's missing the bolts and Spring but that won't be a problem... I have the Centerstand and grabrail which are the most hard to find since Rivco is no more. This winter, I plan on having the bike painted with a small dragon on the tank and "In Memory of Mac 12/01/46 - 07/09/10" He was only 63 years young. I'm excited about riding his Memorial bike and becoming a part of this community. hopefully this photobucket link works... a pic of my brother with the Valk.

Welcome!
Ya got the pic to post on the first try -- OUTSTANDING (It took me about half a dozen attempts before the pic's would show.)
Now, edit your profile so we can know a little more about you (location, tagline, etc).
(In April I got a fast black one -- mine's a 1999).
WELCOME!!

Welcome, Sorry about your brother.
If you can, you should come to Inzane this July. Most of the usual suspects will be there. It's a good time.

Welcome! A befitting tribute to your brother - to restore the bike and continue the ride........ I like to think some lost over the years are with me when i ride.... I've always thought of riding as a spiritual experience....

Hey Macdragon, Sorry to hear about your brother. You replied to a post I had a couple of weeks ago about my Valk & Shadow being similar to your situation. Thanks for that. I think what you are doing with your brothers bike is awsome!!! I would love to see it when it is done. Barbo & I will be at Inzane XI, hope you are planning to be there.

Glad to catch up with you here. If I remember correctly... that post was on the Ace forum... I thought it was great that you found an Ace withe same color scheme as your Valk. Pics of mine to follow when I pick her up.

Well, I finally did it yesterday... I picked up the Valk from the repair shop in Connecticut. I took it for a couple of miles before loading her on the trailer for the 120 mile ride home. WHAT A RIDE!!! Talk about a smooooth BEAST. It still needs some TLC in the cosmetic department, but it is structurally and internally sound now. Not all the items I have are on it yet... but they will be on soon. Just glad to get her into the stable with her kinfolk. The paint is in good shape, but very dull... needs a good waxing. Have to take care of some rust in various places too. Glad I put the lift adapter on her. I can put her up in the air in my garage and go to town on polishing her up. Windshield and lowers are going on soon as well as ISO grips and throt bosses. Already put on the Dually ISO pegs and have the same highway pegs. Front grill, Easy Brackets for hardbags etc. If they load... here are some pics.. Not me in the pics. It's the shop owner. I took the pics

I don't see a back rest on the driver's seat. Mine came with one. I HIGHLY recommend it, especially if you're going to be riding more than about 20 miles at a time. The back rest makes the miles easier (IMHO).
(The back rest will also keep you from falling off the fast black one if you get too heavy on the throttle. And you will... )

Glad I put the lift adapter on her. I can put her up in the air in my garage and go to town on polishing her up.
Tell me more about the lift adapter.....have you installed the lift adapter to leave on there permanantly or just to use when lifting the bike? Not sure what brand or model lift adaper you have but the one I have (not sure how many different ones are out here) is NOT meant to be left on the bike while cruising around. I may be totally misunderstanding your particular use of the adapter but just want to let you know to double check it before a mishap occurs......years ago there was a story or two of folks forgetting to remove their adapters before going for a ride and the darn thing came off...you can imagine the potental danger involved riding over one of those heavy metal creatures!
Ride safe and welcome aboard !

Hey Bassman... this is the Lift Adapter I have on mine... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/VALKYRIE-LIFT-JACK-ADAPTER-STURDIEST-STAYS-BIKE-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem27b58d95a1QQitemZ170549679521QQptZMotorcyclesQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories as do many others that I know and on this forum... It helps stabilize the bike while up in the air. I didn't buy it off this guy, but just grabbed the first pic of it that I saw.

OK - this is NOT the brand I have and I'm not familiar with this one.....just wanted to make sure the one you have on the bike is meant as a permanent install and safe to ride....perhaps someone else who has one of these or knows more about them can shed some light on this to educate me a bit more.

Yes Bassman. This is installed at the sidestand bolts behind the motor and is level with the bottom of the motor to give you that much more lift area to distribute the weigh more evenly while on the lift.

I have the 99 I/S but I have the centerstand installed also.( came with the bike already installed). Will this adapter fit with that on there or will the centerstand have to go? Also I have plans on maybe installing a auxiliary gas tank on mine. I'm wondering if that would be in the way also. The gas tank goes right there so its a possibility it might not work out right. What do ya think??

Just heresay... but from what I've been led to believe... it's either one or the other. I don't think you can have both the adapter and centerstand... I could be wrong. As far as the auxillary gas tank...also don't know enough about the placement there to comment.

Stormrider...the centerstand will have to be removed in order to install the belly tank, so your best option is to remove the stand and send it to me for disposal.
