Reno police: Alleged burglar attacks with crowbar, gets beaten unconscious and is in ICU
November 9, 2010

A burglary suspect is in a hospital intensive care unit after allegedly attacking a person in a home with a crowbar and then being beaten with a baseball bat, the Reno Police Department reported.

The incident happened about 8:46 p.m. Monday in the 2900 block of Scottsdale Road in Reno towards Sun Valley.

Police said Brandon Durham, 26, broke into the home through the rear sliding glass door and was confronted by one of the occupants and the two fought. Police said Durham struck the occupant several times with a crowbar when a female resident tried to break up the fight. Police said that’s when Durham swung the crowbar at her and missed, Police said the person originally involved in the fight with Durham then got a baseball bat and beat Durham unconscious.

When police arrived they found Durham unconscious inside the home. Both involved in the fight were taken to the hospital and the resident was released but Durham remains in ICU, police said.

When Durham is released from the hospital he will be booked into jail and is facing charges of burglary, home invasion, battery with a deadly weapon and assault with a deadly weapon, police said.

They asked anyone with information about the case to call detectives at 334-2115 or Secret Witness at 322-4900.
