We moved to Florida 15 years ago after living in the same place for 10 years. We threw half of our junk out, boxed up the rest and moved. Know what? we still have boxes we have not opened People in general accumulated and keep too much junk!...BTW...Hope you enjoy your new home!

Next April I'll be moving from my house, 55 years, to an apartment. I've gotten rid of a few things but have a long ways to go. At least I've gotten rid of my 25 foot ham antenna but lots of junk and such to go. Not looking forward to it.

I told the wife, "We'll have a yard sale. Everything is a buck, but, you have to take it all". Gray Baskerville of Hot Rod magazine said; " I have a carport. If I had a garage it would be full and I'd still have to park outside". Me, I love a yard/estate sale.

I hate moving. I have done it several times over my life, and may be doing it again. My dad wants me to take his house and let him move to a smaller one. I need to do it, to keep it in the family. And I have stuff still in boxes from the last move. Everytime I get my ham radio stuff almost the way I want it, I move. It takes years to get settled. Solo...at least I will be able to put up any antenna I want. It is in the country!

I have been in this house for 30 years, 3200 sqft and 1200 sgft garage. Wife unit wants to move to a smaller place with everything on one level. I said fine, as soon as you sell, donate, eliminate all the "stuff" we won't have room for anymore we can start looking for a place. That process started 10 years ago and we're still here.

December 26th... I get to drive a U-Haul for my sister who's moving.... From Louisiana to Montana... This is gonna be interesting... I'm taking bets on whether or not I survive driving a 26' U-Haul pulling a car on a trailer through Montana snow and ice without crashing... Any takers???

Yeah, I'm thinking of a MFJ loop antenna. I already checked with the apartment manager. I'm free to do whatever, as long as I don't generate complaints from the neighbors. Lower power and a stealth antenna might work. No problem as I like QRP CW.

It is good to see some Amateur Radio Operators on here. I am not as active as I used to be on the radio. I still get on HF some, still prefer phone over cw. I mostly listen to the jabber while I am reading the posts on the valkrie board!!! Yeah, I'm thinking of a MFJ loop antenna. I already checked with the apartment manager. I bet you will be able to work the world with that and a bit of good luck. CW, even at QRP is very effective. I am not a code junkie, but did pass the code tests back before it was dropped. I have stayed at General I guess because I pretty much do everything I want to do. BTW, echolink is real effective for apartment complexes etc. I know it is not pure radio as many of us like, but I have been using it to keep up with friends in NC. It is nice using a handheld around the house and talking across the country. I use it with an old laptop wired to an old yaesu radio and then let it link to my repeater. I never see the laptop except when I service it. Envoius of you there NCGhostrider. Wished I lived out in the country so I could put mine up...all mine are in the attic or out on the fence. Hay Jimmyt K5JTJ I have been there and done that too. I still currently live in a small town; I have no antenna restrictions, but try to keep things from being too obnoxious for the neighbors sake. My dads place is definately in the sticks though! I keep a couple of wires up, and currently don’t have to have an attic antenna. I have been looking at some verticals for HF. I keep a screwdriver antenna for the pickup and it works great for some contacts. I have thought about an extra one for the house, with some sort of radials or ground plane etc. I don’t keep a radio on the valkyrie anymore, though I do carry my handheld with me often, just in case I get somewhere and want to see what is happening. Besides its nice having the ability to listen to the weather when I am traveling. Now its bike related!! Craig KC5PGZ
