Soooooo, I'm giving serious consideration to selling my gsxr 750 and applying the funds toward a supercharger. Since buying my valk, I just don't ride it much anymore. I know even supercharged, a valk is not going to be as fast as my gixxer. My question is: can I get it close at least? Has any of you supercharged guys ran the quarter or eighth mile? What were your times? I suspect low 11's in a quarter are a good guess. Best time on my gsxr 10.4. Thanks for any input

A good running stock Valk will run in the 12's, and some that have had work done on them but not with a blower will hit the 11's. A friend of mine has a '97 Std. that scared the crap outa me when I took it for a ride once. When I got back to the house, he asked if there was anything I would add to it...I told him a back rest to keep from sliding off when you get on the throttle. Next to a blown Valk, his is the fastest/quickest one I've ridden. As I recall, so far his has had head work, cams, multiple dyno runs to tune the jetting for max performance, tuned/balanced(crossover pipe) exhaust, 6 deg. trigger wheel...and there's more I don't remember just now but that will give you an idea. I have no idea what it will run in the 1/4, but I'd bet it won't miss your Gixxr by much. I actually had trouble staying on it, and just did a roll on from about 20 mph and was leaning way forward, almost laying on the tank. I wouldn't try a 1/4 mile run without a backrest to keep me on it, the darn thing just pulls that hard. And added note....last I heard, he's trying to sell it. Already bought a Spyder, now his wife will ride with him. If interested, let me know and I'll put you in touch. Wish I had the extra $$ for it myself.

Hmmm. I have considered many of the mods your buddy has done. I know it adds up to thousands of dollars. Might be more cost effective way to go for me, so yeah I'm a little bit interested. Hit me up wit more details if your buddy is selling

Gixxer,,I always remind myself when i ride with my friend who has a 2010 1000cc Ninja, that 1'st and part way through 2nd i can hole shot him, After that he will just become the disappearing man if ya know what i mean,,But if you are competitive and remember that the Valk is not a Sport bike you will be King of the Cruiser class with a supercharger, Every weekend we all get together with a group for our Sunday ride a new guy will show up and always thinks he has a 11 second HD,I usually scare them when i Stand it up as i pass um, I ride my bike hard and after almost 10 years i still get butterfly's going when i stab it off the line IT IS A HANDFUL OF TORQUE 127 ft lb's feels awesome, Little tricky jetting but it was not that hard, I have just purchased a NX Express NOS system that i am installing now on the bike. If ya got the cash go for the Huffer!! beautiful kit very well engineered.

I left a little out for fear of being long winded. I Took my valk down to the local 1/8th mile legal drags for fun. I didn't expect to beat the sportbikes and was hoping some other cruzers or h-ds would be there, nope just crotch rockets. I raced mostly 600's, my best time was an 8.09 and it was exactly as you say, I could take them 1st and 2nd but as soon as I hit 3rd watch out...they were gone. I know this well because my gsxr will pull 60 to 110 in second gear and it takes about 2 seconds to do it. I am gonna miss that if I sell her. I'll bet a supercharger and a small dose of nitrous like your set up will get it done against 600's in the 1/8th mile. BTW, I got spanked all night but got nothing but thumbs up and "sweet ride!" from the bystanders. Most people there had never seen a valk up close.

Here's his response to my question re. his Valk: "John, Thanks for the thought. The yellow "bus" is on consignment with Smith Powersports in Hayesville, NC. I asked them to get me $6000 for it. The owner said he "saw no problem" getting that amount, but so far no indication of a sale." ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ He left it up there, he and his wife spend their summers in northern Georgia in the hill country to get out of some of the Fla. heat and humidity. If you're interested...or curious, give the dealer a call. If the season was coming into the Spring months I'd even volunteer to deliver it for you.

Just looked at Smith Powersports website and saw the yellow bus. Beautiful bike. Wish I could do it.

Maybe I can send my retired pops cross country to check her out (he has a valk also) I installed some 38 slow speed jets in it for him. When he bought it, it had been sitting for some time. As I recall, the prior owner had developed some health issues and couldn't ride any longer so had to let it sit. After replacing the slow jets for him, cleaning out the carbs, etc., it's now a sweet running bike...but scary if you get on it hard. If I had the extra $$, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

I have a lightened stripped supercharged 03 Black Valk with 50hp of N20 and it runs... but it will not run with my 1000 cc Yamaha R1 or for that matter any big sport bike. I also have a Muzzy tuned 1340cc Hayabusa powered B-King and it will flat embarrass my blown Valk.
Like was mentioned a blown Valk will beat most cruiser bikes but beware of big sport bikes they will out accelerate, out handle, and out brake Valks regardless of what mods you do.

Just curious, what cruisers will it NOT out run?

Other cruisers that will beat my blown N20 Valk are my buddies 124ci S&S V-Twin powered street legal AHDRA bike that consistently runs mid 9's. Or a gorgeous big $ supercharged Screaming Eagle V-Rod that is owned by a moto cross racer who knows how to ride it. These are just a couple local cruisers that I know will spank me... plus a local dentist is looking for me because I ran away from him pretty good before he sent his Rocket 111 back to England and had a supercharger installed. Something I learned along time ago is there is always someone faster when talking about cars boats planes and bikes!

Maby it's not so clever to compare custom bikes to sportbikes...

Of course you guys are correct. It is a no contest when comparing top speed, handling and braking with a sportbike. However, in the 1/8 mile there is hope, the fastest street bikes are running 7 flat and smaller sport bikes run 7.2 to 7.4. So, dropping 8/10ths of a second off a stock valk should be very do-able I think. I'll keep you's guys posted.......
