I just returned from a two thousand mile round trip to KY. Two days later and Six miles and she dies
I tried to restart she would not turn over. Got her home and checked batteryafter charging it will hold a little ovet 12 volts removed ground and checked for a power drain and had none ran her untill she was at normale temp checked battery at idle battery was 11.69 volts at five thousand rpm only 11.5 volt. Removed Alternator and checked condenser and it failed test. Honda dealer said she did not have a condenser other shop said you could not replase without buying a new Alternator. Has anyone dad this problem.

If you are riding  and it is a must that you keep your eyes on the road, you are riding too fast.

It is the charge fuse between the alternator and the battery.  I have'nt heard of the capacitor causing problems.  It is there to filter the noise that the alternator produces from the 12v so you don't hear a whining noise in your radio.  If you alternator is actually not functioning, you can replace it with one from a Gold Wing of the same era and just reclock the front of the case 120 degree's and it is a lot cheaper than one for a Valk.  I helped a friend do his and it is still working a year or so later.  Check the fuse first.  If I remember correctly, the battery cable is on the bottom of the fuse and the alternator cable is on the bottom.

Any good automotive electrical shop can rebuild your alternator if that turns out to be the problem, you don't know what the problem is yet. Hoser

How many miles on your bike?  Sounds like you need to replace the brushes.
Mine went out at around 75000 miles.

I would not believe the stealer when they say the parts  are not available. I went to  my stealer to buy brushes for my alternator and they said they were not available. I came home got on this site and found the part number. I went back the next day and gave the man (the same one who told me the day before brushes weren't available) the part number I was looking for. He checked his stock and wow, would you believe he had them on the shelf. Purchased them for a little of nothing compared to new alternator. I challenged him on this and he had nothing to say. Not saying all stealers are this way, but they are in the business to sell. Do your homework and you might be able to find your parts. I have also had a alternator shop repair alternators off of the Valkyrie.

This one won't be selling for long if he keeps doing this to his customers...  uglystupid2

I checked the 55 amp fuse. She only has 28 thousand miles. I can charge the bat. and she will start and run fine until the bat. gets to low. There is a good repair shop not far from me I think i'll take it to them I would hate for it to go out on my next trip. thanks for the help
