What is the proper way to 'shim the needles' .  I have been told to remove the nylon spacer and stack washers to total about .050 less than the spacers..?  I hear this talked about but never explained.  Those in the know please enlighten and thanks.

Let us know how your gas mileage goes after shimming. When I bought my Valk in '03, it had shims in it. I got 30 mpg. Took them out and got 35 mpg. Now I have Dyna Jet needles set to the second notch down from the top. Adjusted pilot screws to 2 1/4 turns out and get 37+ mpg. Have fun.
