I am working on mounting a hitch to my Valk, and cannot find m10/1.25 bolts or threaded rod in 10.9 or 12.9 strength, only the 8.8 which is about a grade 5.  Any idea of where to find some or is the 8.8 strong enough?

Fastenal should have a good selection of whatever you need.  See if you have one in your area.

Fastenal does have what you need but if you want Chrome try HitchDoc to see if they can supply you with the bolts you want. They have different lengths depending on your application.

Ah, yes....the "in-betweener" thread...standard is a 1.0, and fine is a 1.5.

1.25 is a "japanese" something or other, and tends to be a little harder to find. I found a 3 or 4 foot piece, for $70. Too much for my blood.

I ended up finding a 10-1.25 die, and bought a 10-1.5 bolt, cut it off the length I needed it, and tapped the other end, effectively ending up with a 1.25 one end, to screw into the fender side, and 1.5 which I could buy nuts for all day long. I was also changing to a tourer - putting stock hardbags on her - so it was a real hassle getting all the lengths just right.

Taps were $4 each, and went through two of them, and the bolts were another couple bucks...

I've found a good Ace Hardware has the best bolt and nut selection, of any of the non-bolt specific places. My Fastenal didn't have squat...but COULD get anything, for a serious price.
