I purchased a Stebel compact horn and I want to use it with the Valk horn button. I am removing the original horn and replacing it with the Stebel. Will I need to wire in a relay and if so what is the a good relay to buy? Also what amperage for the relay? I am not very electrical savy so any help will be greatly appreciated. If a wiring diagram is available that would be nice too. Thanks in advance. Hef

go to rattlebars.com. Chet has electrical wiring there and how relays work.

you definitely need a relay, the stock horn wires can be the trigger for the relay.  The Stebel draws about 18  amps, so you need a 20 amp fuse in the power supply wire from the battery to the relay.

Chet's diagram is about as clear as you will find.

A 40 amp relay can be bought at most auto parts chain stores.  Look in the electrical or fog light sections and you will see what you need.

Good luck, it's easy.

Eastern Beaver sells a horn wiring kit which works great with a Stebel.  The kit contains all the wiring in a loom, plus an inline fuse and relay.  So it's really plug and play.  You have the option of keeping the stock horn, which I did, or removing it and wiring only the Stebel to the stock horn button.  The website has installation instructions.

Very, very simple! You mention stock location? That's where I put mine. I took the stock wires from the stock horn, hooked them to the coil on my relay, ran a single 10 ga. wire with a 20 amp inline fuse back to the battery for power to the relay, and a 10 ga. wire from the relay to the horn. Then took another #10 wire, to a ground, for the ground to the horn. MAKE SURE you connect + to +, and - to - on the horn - a little hard to see on the casing or the horn, and not obvious.

I had to make a different bar, than the stock stacked set - it wasn't strong enough. So grabbed a piece of stainless, and polished it. Also had to make an aluminum stand-off, which I polished also.

I'd use at least a 20 am relay, but I had a 30, and that's great - the horn draws 18, if I recall. The stock wires are NOT big enough to handle the current draw. I hid the relay up by the horn, under the frame cover.

Here's a pic - better would be black wire, but red was in my box:
