This moved me to tears because it brought back memories of my daughter lost to cancer. She sang(contralto) with the St. Louis Philharmonic, both in their chorus and solo. She and her next older sister(very high soprano) would also sing duets in portions of the Messiah but only in church or on the Greenville College campus in Illinois.

Magnificent!   650 voices trained voices, one of the largest of the world's most majestic musical instruments, and the inspiring chorus of Handel's.  I sang that many times.  It always brings tears and hope to me.

Thank you John for that and the personal background.

It also reminded me of my youth. Most states have some sort of musical competition for vocal and instrumental, often in the spring. Iowa was no different, and all three years in high school I was able to move through all the various auditions and finally sing in a large choir in Des Moines in the Spring. My senior year was the most outstanding experience, we had nearly 1,000 voices from all over the state, accompanied by the nearly 300 piece orchestra...all high school students. There was also a band, made up of nearly all those in the orchestra plus some additional that only wanted to perform in the band. As I recall, we performed in the KRNT Theatre....not certain but sounds about right. If you've never heard a group the size of that in the video, you're in for a real treat, regardless of what number they do. It's simply overwhelming.
