Great pics, Joe. Thanks for sharing.
Here are some well-wishes for your court date. Hopefully your employer will remember your accomplishments (like hauling heavy equipment up a narrow mountain road) instead of worrying about a speeding ticket. Seems kinda trivial to me, but I don't make a living driving like you do. Anyways - all that's to say best of luck and let us know how it goes.
I have a question for you. When going on a decent-length ride such as this one, what determines which bike you take? I noticed you brought the same bike to Cheaha (if memory serves correctly). Conventional thought would be to take one of your Interstates on the lengthier trips such as these. I'm just curious as to how you make the decision which pony to saddle up come trip time.

It's a point's deal with my driver's license I've got some points already on me from May of 2009 those along with these will be enough for the state of Tennessee to take them No license no job Another VRCC member totaled this bike on The Blue Ridge Parkway and I spent a war pension putting it back together...It has a re-built title meaning I'll never get close to what I have in it ( if sold ) so I might as well just run the wheels off it.

Three Words, GET A LAWYER, They will not expect you to have representation and therefore
will not be ready for the flurry of motions that will hit thier sorry arses.
When a lot is on the line,,, a mouth piece is the way to go.
DON"T GO IN THERE ALONE.
No and Greg and Gordon are not lawyers.
I ain't either but I use them(LAWYERS) in cases like this.

. ...if I was you, Id first go to court early, and ask to speak to the prosecutor ..before court...tell him your predicament and how your license is your livelyhood...then ask if you can plea bargain down to a lesser charge, that will leave your license intact. Most prosecutors are willing to do a plea, especially under...special circumstances as yours...
If he is unwilling then request a postponement to seek counsel. An attorney will in all probabilities be able to save your ass. They,ve saved mine more then a few times in traffic cases. But before I went to court, Id go online and research the "statues" that he wrote you up under, and make sure they are correct. Also check all other information that he wrote down on the citation. ANY mistake is cause for dismissal. I have beaten a prosecutor twice, simply because the officer either wrote down the wrong statue, or a statute that could not be applied to the offense he stated that I commited. It was the same township/prosecutor both times. Both times he waited until every other case was heard, before telling the judge that...for reasons he didnt want to go into at the present moment, he wanted to drop all charges against me. The first time as I was walking out the back doors to the parkinglot, he was standing outside, catching a smoke. As I passed he said...you know...we could have got you...I just smiled and replied..yeh....thats why you dropped all charges...and kept walking.
I would also talk to Oss, Im sure he can give you some valuble insight.

Tears my heart out that I couldn't go with you. Sounds like you guys had great weather and great roads....glad you're home safe. Hate to hear about the ticket. Work the problem. Talk to the prosecutor as quickly as possible. You weren't doin' nothin' but twistin' the throttle alittle too much. Good luck

I heard that if the cop doesnt show up to court you win. There is no one to defend his side of the case.

If the cop does not show for the trial politely explain to the judge you are ready to go to trial, missed a day of work already and tell him if they are not ready you request the charges be dropped. A friend won the case that way but DO NOT piss off the judge. In MN we have something called a Stay of Adjudication (don't know if I spelled that right or what they call it in other states). What our judges will do if they feel someone deserves a break is charge a bigger fine but make it not go on the driving record if you stay clean for a year. For a guy that makes his living driving this would be a good option (if you hold back on the right wrist for a year). As your career is on the line a good lawyer can explain all that stuff to you.

Done the Defered Adjuducation on the last ticket. I paid the court costs, just had to NOT get a ticket for the next 90 days and they dropped (erased) the ticket. Notice-- they kept the money!

True, but my experience is that every ticket this guy wrote that wasn't settled will be called that day. He might have a dozen cases....he will be there. JMHO

Kudos to the man from Jersey. Timbr had some good advise. In NY many judges will let you plead guilty to something called failure to obey the rules of the road for no points but a nice state surcharge In NY you know when you check in if the officer is there for the case and then you figure your strategy, but when you mail the ticket in ask for the supporting deposition anyway, cant hurt If the boxes on the ticket are filled in correctly and you are into major point award category (20 or more over the limit) any no point conviction is a win as your cost of missing work is gonna be more than such a ticket You never said where you got the award so cant recommend anyone Good luck to you and Paul fighting the tickets Here is joe getting a ticket years ago
