Last night my wife and I went to see David Allan Coe. 71 years old he was helped onto a stool on stage then played for a solid two hours.  He strummed the guitar and sang every song. His oldest son played lead guitar. Another guitar/steel guitar player and a drummer filled in on some songs.

This wasn't the best concert I've seen Coe do, but his voice still sounded good.

I'm glad my wife was finally able to see him.

He closed the show with "Panheads Forever" and a hello to his 1% outlaw friends.  I'm not a HD fan, but I love the song "Panheads Forever."

If that ain't country...well, you know.

Better to be judged by 12, then carried by 6.

I love DAC. Never got to see him but I bet it would be a good show. I like his 'explicit lyrics' kinda songs and his rebel rousing ones to. His appearance sure has changed over the years. Cant pick him out of a line up with Pantera.

I saw him once, about 20 years ago. He was the opening act for Hank Williams Jr. DAC has written a bunch of songs over the years. Did not realize he was that old now. Funny how fast time goes by.

DAC was playing a Dime Bag Darrell commemorative Washburn last night which does make him reminiscent of Pantera or Super Joint Ritual. I would like to see him with Hank III. That would be a great show.

I interviewed Coe in 2006 for the Daytona Beach News-Journal just before he played the Iron Horse Saloon. We got together upstairs in Sally's office. Coe is a great guy. His son was already playing in the band back then. And, at least when I heard him several times at the Iron Horse, Coe had dropped nearly all the racist remarks/lyrics, although his set was still R-rated and he played his rebel-flag-painted guitar. I respected him for making the decision to change. I love his music and his zest for life.

This is how I'll always remember Coe (and his son).

These guys are going to be gone pretty soon.

I saw Merle this year. Very old and a little unsteady. The voice, not what it once was, but I enjoyed seeing him.

Saw Willie in September. Took him about 6 songs to get the pipes working. After that about as good as he ever was.
